On the Bright Side

I spoke with a member of the UGA Marketing Department last night, and he said Georgia Basketball Season Ticket Sales are up 20% over the same period last year.  The enthusiasm for the basketball team's start is extremely high.

If you want to continue to be excited, check out Sportsline.com's Gary Parrish as he discusses Mark Fox's work at UGA so far.  The next big date for the Dawgs is Thursday as I think Julian Royal will announce between Georgia, GT and Wake.  Most of the pundits think it's either UGA or GT.  If we can sign an elite power forward like Royal to complement Kentavious Caldwell on the wing, it would be a huge building block for the roster.

Dude, nobody cares about basketball around here. Unless the team wins big. You're wasting your time going to basketball games. Plus, not enough arrests to make it interesting. Mack Foxx is a good coach for some backwater program like UNLV, but this is football country.

From what I hear he has eliminated Wake Forest.

I care about basketball and all other UGA sports. My allegiance doesn't stop when the football season is over. Thanks Paul for keeping us updated on the "other sports".

BTW - My verification word is SCREW.

I think that old folks like me have been UGA Football fans for many years. We are still as excited about our Dogs as we have ever been. There is only one small catch when the players come to play with UGA dawgs they are not showing the devotion to the team. . You young men need to keep yourself out of the headlines of the paper or other media. You need to keep your eyes and mind on what you are here to accomplish. Please put your minds on the game and on what your coaches are trying to teach you and it is not only football it is also having a high moral standard.

Speak for yourself, Anon.

Hoop Dawgs are trending up. I just hope that we are able to hold on to Fox for the long term.

Anon 2:36- Our football team is 2 and 4! I, this year at least, will care MUCH more about basketball...as will many of my friends. The Steg is going to be rocking this winter....and you'll be home still moping about not going to a bowl game. Deal with it, and jump aboard Fox's bandwagon. There's still room.

When I say "Go Dawgs", the word "football" is never mentioned. My allegiance is to my alma mater, not to any particular team or sport. Thanks for the updates PWD, I'm pumped about basketball season. GO DAWGS! (all of them)

I, like many voiceless others, appreciate and would actually like more basketball coverage because of the lack of blogs actually covering it.

There's plenty of UGA football blogs around if all you care about is football... feel free to leave.

Anon 2:36--- You obviously have no freaking clue what you are spewing about. First off, UNLV isn't a backwater basketball program. Second, his name is Mark Fox and this is a athletic school, not a football school. Im glad there are not more morons like you out there supporting UGA athletics. Personally, I don't even want you around any athletic events with those comments.

As a GT fan you guys have a good one in Fox. Good to see you interested in something other than football and gymnastics, makes the rivalry more fun year round.
