In conjunction with FunOfficePools.com, we will be running our 4th Annual College Football Pick 'em Contest. Last year, we had nearly 500 people participate.
Each week we'll have about 10-15 games for you to pick - we'll be picking the winners only - no spreads - but you'll also have to assign confidence points to your picks. The more points you assign to a game, the more likely you think your selected outcome is correct. If you're right, you'll get the amount of confidence points you assigned to a game. We'll be picking games that include UGA, the other SEC teams, GT and some of the best other games of the week as well. Also, I like to throw in random games the odds makers think are close (remember, the spread is purely informational, we aren't picking against the spread).
To participate, just join our pool. It's completely free to play, and FunOfficePools.com is spam-free as well. The pool is open now to join, and first picks are due by September 3rd, but we do have Thursday and Friday games the first week that will close prior to kickoff, so sign up now. The pool will run the whole regular season, concluding on December 6th with, among other games, the conference championship games. Let's get as many of you signed up as we can, and find out who really is the best at picking winners in football.

Time for me to claim my spot in the top 10. I think I was top 5 year before last and was top 10 or so last year til I took some crazy shots in the bowls rather than play conservative.
I would guess if the number is 4 new teams that the easiest road might be A&M, OU, Ok St and Mizzou. That would be ok...not my preference but ok.
Reasons:
1. If there truly is this Florida, Georgia and South Carolina alliance then Clemson, Georgia Tech, FSU and Miami are out of the mix. I am not so sure that this grouping actually exists, but a lot of folks seem to think so.
2. I cannot see any of the North Carolina schools coming and other than TV sets, not sure the SEC is interested either. UNC and Duke would never agree to be broken up for roundball reasons alone. I doubt Wake is interested and NC State...I just don't see it. In fact, I suspect if any school from the Tar Heel State comes, it might just be East Carolina.
3. Virginia ain't coming to the SEC. And if the Wahoos don't come, neither is Tech after the drill the Virginia legislature and UVA went through to force the Hokies into the ACC. Tech might want to come and the SEC might want them but I think this is a bridge too far.
4. WVU might be a darkhorse in this. They might want to jump the Big East ship and they seem to have an SEC mentality in football. I really don't know about this one.
5. Mizzou might not seem like a perfect match, but they have two major advantages. No other school in the state that would lock them into a package like other teams. They also have a significant TV market with St Louis and Kansas City. Their football program has improved significantly over the past few years and they have a very good basketball tradition. Could be a natural rival for the Hogs...the Ozarks Bowl ;D
6. A&M...I think this is going to happen sooner or later.
7. OU and Ok State. This is a package. You get one and you get the other. If we are eventually talking 16 team super conferences then this would seem to work. OU is the most prestigious team out there not in a stable conference and one of the top 5 all time in CFB. Ok State has spent millions in upgrading facilities. They are a national power in wrestling and golf, perennially good in basketball and an up and coming football program.
No idea what is going to happen, but this at least seems to be a possible scenario, IF the assumption about the Carolina, Georgia and Florida alliance is valid.
