Two Weeks Out: How do you feel?

Ok, so we've had a couple of injuries, but beyond a stress fracture, nothing too serious.  We've had a brouhaha about unis.  We've learned that my kid is a likely agent's runner, or at best, is likely to be a mule for unscrupulous memorabilia sales folks.  We've learned there is a possible new mantra for this season.

How do I feel?

Honestly, I am still rating the Dawgs a hold.  I want to, make that desperately want to, believe the changes in approach that are becoming a bit more evident will be the difference between the past few year's non-sense and winning the way we did in the early part of the decade.  I also want to believe someone will step up out of the receiving corps, the offensive line will remember that they are as good as they were before last season, we have a decent running attack, play calling will leverage advantages, defensive schemes won't break down, we cover wheel routes and QB delay keepers, and all the kickoffs will be out the back of the end zone.

The only thing I feel confident happening regularly, at least right now, is the kickoff thing.

How do you feel?

I have no idea how we are going to do... No clue... Nothing would surprise me.

I can't shake that loss to UCF. I'd be hard pressed to recall a loss that so perfectly demonstrated all our most recent flaws in one game (and with a month to prepare). This was probably the best off-season anyone could have hoped for, but I can't quite bring myself to believe it will wash off five years of rot. I hate to sound so negative (I want to believe!) but I went to school during the Goff years, and this season feels to much like 95. I still think 8-4 is doable, but losing to Boise, SC and probably UF and UT won't much feel like progress.

There are simply far too many issues to correct in one off season. The O-line. The D-line. The Secondary. The RB's (which could be directly related to the O-line). The WR's. I see an 0-2 start and then it is anyone's guess from there.

This --> "I can't quite bring myself to believe it will wash off five years of rot."

I think we lose to Boise, Carolina, Florida, and mybe a few others. And i think this time next year we'll be starting a new season with a new coach.

I think we have 4 sure wins on the schedule. All the others we could win just as easy as lose. If this was the early 2000's I wouldn't feel that way. However, in 2011 are we that much better than 2010? I don't know. I don't know what has changed the would make us better than the team that couldn't get inches on the goal line and settled for 3. I don't know if we are better than a team that had zero pride to settle the score when their QB was cheap shotted by Auburn. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride because if we win great; if we don't then we will probably have a new coach.

Yikes! Seth Emerson has a link to the new unis on Nike's website. Wow... we'll look like an arena football league team out there, but if it keeps Nike writing checks and high school kids interested, I'm game. I only hope that BSU's unis are as hideous.

There is so much uncertainty with this team and program that I don't see how anyone can project what they will do. Since there is no "pre-season" game, everything will boil down to Boise State at the Georgia Dome. So here is my prediction:

I do not think they will be worse than last year, so if they come out and play like last year, get ready for a coaching change opening next season.

If Georgia comes out like a ball of fire and plays like there is no tomorrow, it will be a very good season.

I don't think there will be a middle ground. Either they will climb to the top 5 by the end of the season and be part of the national championship talk or they will be profoundly mediocre. All will depend on what happens versus Boise State.
