Mid Season Questions

The folks at College Football Zealots have asked me to do another round table, this time in two parts.  I'll have my answers tomorrow, but I am curious about your thoughts.

At the mid-way point what makes you the most excited about this Georgia football team?

Which player has been the biggest surprise on defense (and why)?

What needs to happen for Georgia to run the table in the rest of their games?

At the mid-way point what makes you the most excited about this Georgia football team? that they've found ways to win without having put together a complete game in all 3 phases.

Which player has been the biggest surprise on defense (and why)? shawn williams. he's been a star and nobody really expected much out of him before the year.

What needs to happen for Georgia to run the table in the rest of their games? grow up a little. stop the jawing. the penalties have seen a spike lately. play solid def, don't turn it over on offense. a good def with an avg offense can win...a lot.

Continued offensive production and YOY defensive improvement.

Which player has been the biggest surprise on defense (and why)?

The 2 Jones', J and A. The impact that Jarvis has had was a bigger surprise than I anticipated and Arby has saved us in numerous instances.

What needs to happen for Georgia to run the table in the rest of their games?

Not beat ourselves re:USCe

#1 - the team didn't pack it in after the 0-2 start

#2 - Herrera/Gillard

#3 - consistent offense

1. I am excited about this team because it looks like we are getting a fire started under our defense. Other than the Vandy game we are stopping the run and our corners are not giving up the deep ball. The quick slants are killing us though. Its a vast improvement over the last 2-3 years and we have stepped up after losing the first two games.
2. Abry Jones has been my defensive standout. He seems like he always destroying plays. Yep, he just batted down another ball.
3. To run the table the rest of the year we need to get a proper special teams coach, coaches, whoever. I feel like we have given up a fake punt in three or four games and folks are getting to the endzone too much on kickoffs. We just need to play the way we know we can and keep our composure. There are other things that need to happen but I am sneaking this in at the office.

#1 - That we have a real shot in the east

#2 - Williams and Rambo at safety. William's personal fouls aside, they've been awesome. Herrera & Gilliard also a good vote here.

#3 - Limit turnovers and special teams gaffs.

#1 That Crowell is the real deal.

#2 Herrera/Gillard

#3 Consistency, focus and sustained intensity for 60 minutes (offense, defense and particularly the not-so-special-at-least-so-far teams)

1 - Grantham's 3-4 scheme seems to have 'set in' with the players. In particular I'm impressed with the improvement of 3rd down D.

2 - Mike Gilliard stepped up bigtime in the wake of Robinson and Ogletree's injuries.

3 - Mid-field seance in Jacksonville.

Don't think anyone would have even had an answer to this question this time last year.

UGA’s Linebacker depth.
Starters – Cornelius Washington (Sack master), Alec Ogletree (best athlete we have), Christian Robinson (Smartest guy, Team captain and signal caller), Jarvis Jones (going to be All-SEC)
2nd string – Ray Drew (Just started blowing by people, HS ALL American), Amarlo Herrera (plenty of playing time, great freshman), Mike Gilliard (SEC Defensive player of the week), Chase Vasser (plays like his hair is on fire)

Best LB corps in the East bar none.
