So, did CBS & ESPN make it's choices of MSU/Arkansas, LSU/Ole Miss & Vandy/Tenn over the UGA game; or, did a certain university president request that CBS & ESPN make that prioritization?

I think it was the latter. I could be wrong, but I gotta believe that ESPN would take Eastern Div champ,UGA, vs KY over Vandy/Tenn.

If we beat Auburn, I expect the GT game is very likely to kickoff at 8:00 pm on ABC.

You could have the SEC East Champ vs. the ACC [Insert Division Name Here] Champ.

Adams strikes again! He wants to be like Harvard and Yale and boring, early afternoon kickoffs are part of that image.

But please keep sending your money in. He still wants that.

Unbelievable! 4 of 6 home kicks are 1:00 or earlier. Looking at next year's home slate I expect more of the same in 2012. Sucks real bad.

Vandy-Tennessee should be a much better game. Also, I'm not sure the ESPNU pick comes before the SEC Network pick. Regardless, you can't argue with taking the Arkansas or LSU games over ours as they have had better seasons than us and their opponents have had similar seasons to UK.

I still agree that we should kickoff as many games as possible after 3 PM.

It's not Adams. It's the SEC and the networks that decide the kickoff. The better the home match ups are, the better the time slots will be. I remember back in 2002 when Georgia had two CBS 3:30 games at home alone and six in total.

ColumbiaDawg,

You're naive if you think that the networks have total control with no input from the schools. That is the case with the CBS games but the marginal games do get played with.

So I did some research on the number of times SEC teams have started home games in the 12-1pm window over the last 2 years (2010 and 2011). The numbers are staggering. Take a look at this (ordered by % of games started in that window):

- Georgia 75% (9 of 12 games)
- South Carolina 46% (6 of 13)
- Auburn 36% (5 of 14)
- Kentucky 31% (4 of 13)
- Vanderbilt 29% (4 of 14)
- Ole Miss 29% (4 of 14)
- Tennessee 27% (4 of 15)
- Mississippi State 17% (2 of 12)
- Alabama 14% (2 of 14)
- LSU 8% (1 of 12)
- Arkansas 7% (1 of 14)

* I didn't include Florida b/c I couldn't find the start times for their 2010 season. They've started 2 of their 6 home games in that window this year.

I included through next weekend's games, since those have already been set. Also, I counted all games starting before noon local time as being in the window.

I don't know how you can look at these numbers and say that we don't request early kickoffs.

I don't understand the problem with early kick offs. I like them.

Hooray for ruining the game day experience at UGA!

I fail to understand why so many have a problem with early kickoffs.

When you have a good team, you get picked first for TV. We suck. Thats why we play at 1:00. However the NM states and coastal carolina games are really getting old...

UGA overall doesn't want more than 1 night game per year. That has been the case for 20 years.

Historically, we've had 1 night game and maybe a twilight game. I think '08 or so was the exception.

The problem isn't the lack of night games. It's the lack of CBS 3:30 games because we have stunk for too long.

CBS games played:
'11 - 2 (1 home, 1 Jax)
'10 - 2 (1 road, 1 Jax)
'09 - 2 (1 home, 1 Jax)

In a 3 year period, we had 6 CBS games and only 1 at home.

Compare to '02-'04:
'04 - 5 (3 home, 1 jax, 1 road)
'03 - 4 (2 home, 1 jax, 1 road)
'02 - 6 (2 home, 1 jax, 3 road)

When you're not that great, you don't get on CBS at 3:30. When you're really, really bad you get on CSS or FSN at 7:00 pm like Vandy.

12 or 1 is typically the time reserved for mediocre teams.

We have requested some day games. But sucking is the bigger issues than the requests.

to clarify above...I mean "HOME" night games.

PWD,

The thing most people have a problem with is us requesting to play early afternoon football. If we get assigned those spots b/c we're mediocre, then we deserve it. But if we get assigned those spots b/c we ask for it, that's a problem.

Edawg,

The alumni base is diverse. There are fans who only want night games and fans who only want 1:00 day games. It has to do with your age AND your commute.

It isn't fair to any group to have all the starts at any extreme. (realistically...3:30 is about the most fair to everyone, but that's neither here nor there)

Like you, I resent requesting noon starts instead of 7 pm starts. But, I'd rather have a coach that was winning enough that it wasn't an issue.

I understand what you're saying Paul but we're the only SEC school that prefers the early afternoon kickoffs. If there's no benefit to playing later in the day, why is everyone else trying to do it?

We're catering to a certain segment of our fanbase. The other schools aren't doing that crap.
