Hal Mumme Thinks Georgia Tech Football isn't Supposed to Win

Reading Spencer Hall's interview of Hal Mumme, which is a great read for a fan of college football , I did find out something interesting: he equates Georgia Tech with Navy, at least in terms of their perceived ability to win consistently:
"Oh, yeah. I love watching all those teams that do that: Georgia Tech, Army, Navy, all of them. I might not be the best guy to ask that, since I have this mentality that if you're at a place that isn't supposed to win, you have to live on the edge or you'll have no chance of winning."
I'm guessing Mumme doesn't expect a call when the Genius of North Avenue moves on. Give Mumme credit, he is the king of the underdogs, so he knows losing.

PS. There are some great lines throughout, most specifically the one about him not being much into punting. He also has some interesting insight into the inherent logistical problem with a protracted playoff.

Any word if PJ has ever punched Mumme in the nose?
