Neme picks up his second career double-double and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope adds 17 points to help Fox get his fourth opening game win. It wasn't pretty, as the Dawgs maddeningly took 19 three point shots over a Jacksonville team that they had a size advantage on. Georgia only hit 4 of those. Not sure if that was by design or necessity with Donte Williams sitting this one out (my guess is he is in Fox's doghouse over his arrest for pot this summer; the charges were dropped, presumably because he wasn't on a scooter).
One one hand, you like to see Georgia gutting out a terrible second half performance. On the other, you hate to see last season's second half disappearing acts coming back up. Georgia didn't score a FG after the 6 minute mark. That is the recipe for heartbreaking conference losses.
Dawgs take on Youngstown State at Stegeman on Monday in the first round of the 2012 Progressive Legends Classic at 7pm.
