KCP invited to Green Room for draft tonight

When Kentavious Caldwell-Pope announced he was leaving UGA for the NBA draft, I was ambivalent. One one hand, Coach Fox could really, really use him next season if he is at all interested in winning enough to stay here. On the other, Ken was probably not going to find a better draft spot next year when you look at the possible draft and that he won the SEC Player of the Year in the conference that featured possible number one pick Nerlens Noel.

That being said, I didn't see any way he'd go higher than mid-first round. And boy, was I wrong. Several places have him as a lottery pick, as high as 9th. Others have called him the 'the Ultimate Sleeper of the Draft.' He'll be in the Green Room for the draft. He'll need to rely on his atheltisism to get to the basket instead of just jacking a long range looker more, but overall, he'll play significant minutes where ever he lands next season.

As it stands, he may become the second highest Dawg ever in the draft, passing Jarvis Hayes and Willie Anderson's 10th. Dominique Wilkins was the 3rd pick in the 1982 draft.

Congrats and good luck to a DGD.

Willie Anderson - still (and always) my favorite hoop Dawg.

How high was Alec Kessler drafted by the Heat?

12th, nearly solely on the strength of his performances against Shaq.
