Georgia Tech fires Brian Gregory

After five seasons.

Gregory is finishing his most successful season at Tech at 21-15, losing in the NIT Quarterfinals. The Jackets finished 10th in the ACC, which after putting four teams in the Elite Eight (and guaranteed to have half the Final Four and a National Finalist), is something.

Still, no NCAA bids and just two winning season in five years isn't good enough on the Flats. It'll be interesting to see how they approach their hire. There are some good guys that'll be interested, despite Tech's recent lack of success. It offers some of the same advantages the UGA job does, but is closer to the Atlanta AAU scene. It plays in the most competitive hoops conference, which could be interesting to a young up and coming coach.

Look for them to go after someone like Chris Beard from Arkansas-Little Rock or even Matt McCall at Chattanooga. Don't be surprised if they end up with Ron Hunter or Travis Ford.
