SEC Power Poll Ballot

Despite the wild weekend, there isn't a lot of movement in my SEC Power Poll ballot. LSU looks like they should have the West, but the East is wide open. I know Kentucky is in the driver's seat, but they have a tough road ahead.
  1. LSU - Down two points to Tulane in the second quarter looked bad, but the Tigers seem to have a different class of athlete than everyone else. They turned it on in the second half to cruise to a win and the No. 1 spot in the AP. If they win this weekend, they might be No. 1 in both polls.
  2. Florida - I know UK is undefeated and should probably be in the two spot, but I think the Gators caught Auburn on a good night. UF is still the second best team in the conference. Woodson & Co. will have their chance to torch the Gator secondary, but until then, I still give the Gators the edge.
  3. Kentucky - The 'Cats are about to get into the heart of their schedule, starting with a trip to Columbia. They need a big win over someone with a good defense and Louisville and the Hawgs don't qualify. The Cocks should give them a test.
  4. South Carolina - Spurrier is slowly finding offense for the Cocks, who seem to improve as the year wars on. Can the defense stay stingy with out Jasper Brinkley?
  5. Georgia - The Dawgs need a win this weekend to legitimize themselves to the national audience who wrote them off after the South Carolina game. A win in Knoxville is still a big deal, even with Richt's record there.
  6. Tennessee - This week's game is big for Georgia, but it is bigger for Tennessee. They've been humbled twice now on national television. Rumors persist that Phil's job is on the line in this game (I think not). The Vols need this game to stay in the SEC East race. They've had an extra week to prepare, so let's see if they can correct the mistakes that have cost the Vols so dearly when the bright lights are pointed at them.
  7. Arkansas - Put up huge numbers against a bad, bad team. The Hawgs look like they will cruise this coming week and get ready for Auburn.
  8. Auburn - Brandon Cox saved his best game when it meant the most. A great job all around for Tubs and his staff who always seem to play their best ball when everyone leaves them beaten and bleeding on the side of the road. The Aubs should creep up the poll for the next couple of weeks.
  9. Alabama - The Tide offense looked terrible in the hardest hitting game I can remember since LSU and Auburn last year.
  10. Mississippi State - State is the most likely to finish the year at No. 12 in this poll if only because they can't keep a quarterback's body fully functional. This is the last opportunity for an easy win for State because the schedule is soon to become brutal.
  11. Vanderbilt - Ate a cupcake this weekend before heading to Auburn. Can the 'Dores catch Auburn with a hangover? They'll need someone other than Earl Bennett to solve the Auburn defense.
  12. Ole Miss - The Rebs gave a valiant effort against UGA in a game that was close well into the second half. The offense can move the ball, but they can't seem to stop anybody.
Where have I aggrieved you?

Quinton
