Open Letter to "Rocky up the Stairs Student Guy"

Dude,

If the Athletic Department goes through the trouble of putting together an integrated video montage / redcoat performance from Rocky II to match your nightly run up the stairs....you don't miss the game. And if you do, you email ahead and say "I'm not coming."

You can't be Super Fan at home.

Otherwise, it looks dumb as hell to have that video running without the associated douche (granted a very funny douche) running up the stairs.

First, we get the clown with the banana suit for three years. Now this. Sigh. I weep for our students.

PWD

(PS -- If you haven't been to a game this season, you have no idea what I'm talking about)

You would only get it if you've been to a game this season

It was funny the first time i saw it then it got old after that.

I bet since Spring Break has begun, Super Fan was on the beach in Panama City. Too bad he couldn't finish what he started.

You know, we also probably could have used a pep talk from Coach Dale and some clapping during that 26-6 run.
On a serious note, kudos to the team for the Kevin Brophy tributes, even if the scoreboard operator still had Dave's number as 44 instead of 3.

our video department needs an overhaul. That intro vid is super cheesy. The Rocky thing is dumb i think. I do like the Hoosiers clip.

If they are going to use movie references then there are a thousand other clips they could use that would be funnier and better suited.

"from the 13:09 mark until only 3:46 remained. By then Georgia trailed 67-54 on the way to a 76-63 victory for the Rebels.

stoppages for media breaks — and he made limited personal changes. In that exact time span, freshman forward Jeremy Price committed five fouls, had two turnovers, scored two points and missed a free throw while the Rebels' post players scored 19 of the 26 points."

from the AJC - god, i cant wait till we fire his ass!

I haven't been to a home game in the last couple years, so I don't know what's been going on... But as what I think is the originator of the "Rocky" run up the stairs (having been called a "Georgia Tradition" by Jeff Dantzler and congratulated & thanked in Madison Square Garden by Coach Bestwick, the latter being my favorite), I must say I am deeply disappointed in this year's season. I started the "getting stronger" run back when we were not very strong at all, but when we were always looking to improve. We were looking to get better (the Jirsa/Harrick years), and hoped for the best. I really thought we'd get better with Mr. Discipline Guy Coach that we have now... Too bad! I'm not quite ready to let go and move on just yet, but to hear "my legacy" thrown about so immodestly saddens me.

I live in Jacksonville and will most likely never attend a UGA bball game unless I'm in Atlanta for business. I do get the idea from reading a few other posts.

His name is Thomas Fell and is one of my best friends. as a matter of fact i filmed him during the tennessee game for a story Newsorce 15 did on him.

Get this paul. he is a freshman from bloomington indiana. He is one of the funniest guys i've ever met.

also i gotta stand up for him and say he is not a douche.

i'll try to send you the package we put together for the show through a youtube link once i get back from spring break (which is ofcourse why he wasn't there for ole miss)

I remember there was a guy who did it during the late 90's. He was in the band. I haven't seen the guy this year but I will agree with watson in that the video department needs some fresh ideas. The football videos always manage to toe the line between cheesy and awesome so well. The basketball videos have always sucked.

I do love the pre-game basketball video, if only for comic effect. Flames emanating from the players' hands and eyes, teleportation, and then ending with "GIVE THEM NOTHING, TAKE FROM THEM EVERYTHING!!!" RAAAAAAHHHHRRRRRRR
