Fresno State won't be Intimidated

I'd say the West Coast Dogs are pretty much past being awe struck by the moment or their opposition. Here's the teams Fresno State beat to get to the Finals.

(Ranking listed is Current RPI #):
    #2 UNC: 2-1 (Omaha)
    #4 Rice: 1-0 (Omaha)
#5 Arizona State: 2-1 (Tempe Super Regional)
#29 San Diego: 2-1 (Long Beach Regional)
#25 Long Beach State: 1-0 (Long Beach Regional)
Their non-conference opponents in the regular season of note were Long Beach, Cal, San Diego and a bad Indiana team.

We beat (by Comparison):
    #14 Stanford: 2-0 (Omaha)
    #1 Miami: 1-0 (Omaha)
#10 NC State: 2-1 (Athens Super Regional)
#8 Georgia Tech: 2-0 (Athens Regional)
    #50 Louisville: 1-0 (Athens Regional)
    #142 Lipscomb: 1-1 (Athens Regional)
Our non-conference foes by comparison were Arizona, Oregon State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Florida State.

I still think the Fresno pitching is mostly worn out for tonight's game, but Georgia shouldn't expect these guys to roll over and play dead. They certainly aren't going to be intimidated.

We all know that Bulldogs don't roll over and die. Perno will have our boys ready. Go Dawgs!

I'm hoping Olson, who finally contributed offensively, is off the schnide. We need his bat. They hit alot of homers. We need to score in bunches as well...which I think we will do.

Plus, don't forget that Georgia plays in the SEC, possibly the toughest conference in baseball. Their in-conference schedule alone...

The SEC is so tough....

.... we need to quit helping their pitching staff out. Through 3 innings we are jumping all over everything on either the first or second pitch. It is only helping them out. I am all for aggression, but when is it time to begin modifying our game plan?

Are these guys on ESPN homers for Fresno St?

Agree with you anon, make their pitchers get the pitch count up a little more. We have plenty of time.

And I see someone has consulted with Erin Andrews on her wardrobe.

HBTD?!

Does anyone know what the real cause of all this anti-UGA stuff by ESPN is? I know it seems like a conspiracy theory but it's hard to ignore after listening to Mike Patrick and Kirk Herbstreit for about 15 minutes

Dawgs slowed it down and lit up their closer. I am so proud for them. I can't wait for tomorrow night. All the pressure is on Fresno State. I will say that they tried to talk up piesel, beckham, poythress, and fields. Although, they want FSU to win because it is a better story. Honestly, if it was anyone but UGA, I would probably cheer for the team that can't seem to spell dawgs correctly. I don't listen to ESPN radio, because in Raleigh we can't get Colin and he is the only one who is worth listening too.

Awesome banner, PWD.

That from your seats? Looks close to where Gordo's HR went tonight.

Nope. We were in right center.

Ky Dawg and Watson: I am not sure what you are hearing, because Patrick and Hershiser are not anti-UGA by any stretch of the imagination.

They seem to be excited about Fresno State's run, but just because they are impressed by (e.g.) the fact that Fresno State's pitching staff was able to cobble together a decent performance in the early innings tonight doesn't mean that they are anti-UGA.

Hell, just listen to them the next time they talk about Poythress, Beckham, or Fields. Not saying those guys don't deserve the hype, but their praise for all of these guys--especially Fields--is off the charts. There's not a single Fresno State player who gets nearly the amount of love these guys do (although, admittedly, Massanari's wife seems to be getting more than anyone).

solon - the reason those players get the love from Patrick and Orel is because they deserve it. They've more than earned it!

Not a single player on the Fresno St squad that's earned that kind of praise.
