Willie Martinez atop Hurricanes List?

Still having trouble embedding links due to internet issues; however,
I can tell you that the Miami Herald is reporting that Martinez is the
#1 candidate to replace the current Cane DC. Here is the link
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/colleges/um/story/861732.html

As a member of the first Hurricane national title team it would be a
great fit for Willie.

How can I help the decision process. Can I drive Martinez to Miami? I can get my brother the pilot to fly him there. One-way! Please, Willie, Miami needs you!

CWM, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Bring in Tubs!!!

Tubs has to sit out a year due to his buy out...at least thats what I've heard.

its funny how one mans trash is another mans treasure. The UM posters are excited to get WM.

Simmer down folks. As ideal as it would be for CWM to head on, no DC of a major program would take that job simply because Shannon will be fired at the end of next season in all likelihood. Probably opening the door for Tubs to take over down there where he really started making a name for himself back in the day.

I doubt CMR goes outside the program to fill this position. CRG will more than likely be the next DC. Though if he doesn't promote CRG my vote is for Sly Croom.

Once again.....why in the hell would we hire an offensive coach in Croom to be our DC?

Maybe I'm underestimating the draw of one's alma mater, but I don't think Willie leaves now. I'm sure there are emotional ties, but I don't think he'd leave a stable program the UGA has become for the rebuilding U. I also think he is here at least one more year to prove he knows how to coach after last season.

And Tubs for DC? That can be put in the same wishful thinking column as Muschamp. While I agree he'd be a good coach to add, I just don't see him taking a step back by becoming a coordinator after being a HC. He's too good of a coach to not get offered another head coach job somewhere.

Please take him!

We should back up the Brinks truck to Charlie Strong's front door.

This feels like an April Fool's joke.

This must be the "Change" everyone has been talking about going on today!

This smells funny ...

The current coach (Young) has been contacted by OK State, but is still at UM. However, the reporter drops this in the story ...

"If Young leaves, UM is expected to have interest in Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez.."

Says who? The reporter, Shannon, AD or the guy that cleans the weight room on the 2nd Tuesdays of every month?

It just seems odd that a guy is still employed, but the reporter "expects" the next DC to be a certain candidate.

If Willie departs at this point our next DC will be Rodney Garner.

So, it's really... Rodney or Willie.

There is no way Willie would leave UGA for 2 reasons: 1. nobody will hire him, 2. Willie knows Richt will never fire him

Dean - I will noe disregard any comment of yours from here on out.

Wonder if they need a new basketball coach too? Package deal!

Mike Fraser for DC!

Willie-Nillie Martinez needs to stay where he's at. Woof!

Bill Young has left Miami for Okie State, according to the Miami Rivals.com site. I guess we'll see if the Miami Herald speculation is correct or not.

David Pollack said on-air this afternoon that he spoke with Coach, and "he had no idea about the Miami job" and was surprised that Pollack asked. I trust Pollack way more than you cats! By the way, would we be better off tomorrow if CWM left today. I can honestly say that I have no friggin' idea.

I just watched the highlights of the Florida game and the worst 7 minutes in UGA history against Tech....

Martinez needs to GTFO

Richt should tell him.

Funny Anon 6:29 that you choose the Florida game in which our offense over and over again pinned our own defense back. The Florida game can be laid squarely at the feet of the offense and the stupid on side kick. Funny also how you choose a couple of games from this year, how about last season's Florida game where the defense came up time after time with turnovers and timely stops? You need to GFYS or at least watch coverage of Obamamania which is about the same.

Anon at 7:09 - You almost had an argument that was defendable with valid points about picking and choosing which parts of the season to watch until you somehow make the leap to politics. Undermines any credibility you had.

Of course, don't forget too though that when given bad field position by the offense in the Citrus Bowl, the defense actually held MSU to field goals rather than just rolling over.

anon at 7:09 since when has the offence allowed the other teams to score 41 (bama 08),49 (fagida 08) 45 (tech 08),38 (kensucky 08),53 (tenn 06),35 (WV 05 bowl),and 38 (aub 05) points?

the defense was pretty shitty against uf in '07... hopefully everyone remembers this

the defense didn't win that game... the fact that our offense played great and uf's defense was bad was what won that game

i love how some of you twist what really happened
