This is the most revealing part of the story:
If there was a hallmark to Meyer’s coaching style, both on and off the field, it was his relentlessness. He said he found himself e-mailing recruits in church. He said that his 16-year-old daughter had told him that she had not felt like she talked to him in the past two years. In a 10-day period around the SEC title game Meyer said that he had lost 20 pounds.That pretty much sums up the situation.

Hmmm, if he doesnt take losing very well then God must have sent him several messages because without the squad he has had the last 4-5 years, next season he would without a doubt start losing more games than he has in the past. (lets face it, the consecutive wins record is impressive, but the law of averages in the SEC just could not let this unit keep rolling with alot of new young personnel.)
While I hope his health is not a serious concern, my respect for Meyer is still close to none.
"Two National Championships ... A 56-10 record that includes a 32-8 mark in the highly competitive SEC, a school-record 22-game winning streak" ... The Man has my respect ... I hate to see him go 'cause I always want Georgia to play and defeat the absolute best ... if we do everything we can and leave it on the field with no regrets ... then a loss is OK by me ... I love it when it is either man-up or get you butt kicked ... it pushes you to be your best ... esteem comes from laying it out ... not playing those you are suppose to beat ... Maybe Florida will hire the Devil and he will push us too (Oops! ... The Devil is at Carolina and probably won't take the job) ...
Ara Parseghian and Joe Gibbs come to mind in that they left when things were still pretty good. Ara was about 51 so he was only a few years older than Meyer. I do not think it was health related though.
Make up your mind Corch Meyers. Jeez, how tightly-wound this guy is...
I am not sorry to see him go. Still resent the bush league time outs. His focus and intensity were obvious and unattractive.
Good luck to him in the next phase of his life.
He's not leaving now. The circus continues.
This is just one more reason why I'm so glad Mark Richt is our coach. He has the perfect balance of coaching and family. I can't ever see him in this situation. If it means that we lose more games because our coach isn't losing 20 pounds in 10 days trying to win a football game, then so be it.
what a self-centered jerk. how much love do you think his family is feeling now. these wounds wont go away either. feel real sorry for his kids.
