It looks to me that she runs the 40 in around 5.5 or so. Although, some area high school coaches hand timed her at 4.28.
The most interesting thing in that first video is watching the dude fall down and avoid getting trampled while 4 other guys run up to catch her.

NOTE: If you want to see the buffalo run, you need to be in your seats early. The animal will only appear in the stadium twice. Pre-game and after half-time. Our sidelines are too narrow for her to sit inside the stadium all game.

Colorado Fight Songs
The Colorado Golden Buffalo Marching Band
I traded emails with the CU Band, and they aren't coming out for the game. When the roles are swapped in 2010, I'm not sure if UGA will send a a small Pep Band to Boulder or not. Our longest regular season road trip since 1965 was roughly 700-800 miles to Arkansas. We did send a small pep band to Fayetteville, but that's still only half the distance to Boulder. Who knows.
Regardless, ToonDawg reminded me that their band plays "Glory." Therefore, their fans will probably light up when our band plays it pre-game.

Georgia to Shrink Family Friendly Zone at Brooks Mall
I just got a press release from UGA's Gameday Gameplan team. They are shrinking the Family Friendly Zone on South Campus.

ATHENS, Ga., Sept. 20, 2006— Fans will have a chance to run, jump, catch and throw with top UGA athletes before the next home football game. Prior to Saturday’s game with Colorado, student-athletes from four other UGA teams will be at the family-friendly areas to interact with fans and sign autographs.
One family-friendly area is located in the North Campus quadrangle between Old College and Broad St. There fans will be able to meet athletes from the UGA track and field and cross country teams. The teams will be there from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., signing autographs and mingling with fans. In addition, 10 members of the UGA cheerleading squad will be there from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. to rally fans. Kick off against Colorado is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
The South Campus family-friendly area is located on the front portion of D.W. Brooks Mall in front of the Miller Plant Sciences Building. This location has been condensed to allow for more traditional tailgates along the greenspace, according to George Stafford, associate vice president of auxiliary and administrative services.
“We are reducing the size of the area at the D.W. Brooks Mall,” Stafford said. “Based on the attendance we have had the first two games, we felt that it was in the best interest of our fans to condense the area. The linear nature of the Brooks Mall lends itself to a variety of uses, and we feel like traditional and family-friendly tailgating in this area can certainly be accommodated.”
At the South Campus location, the defending SEC Eastern Division Champion Georgia Bulldog softball team will be joined by the nationally ranked men’s and women’s swimming/diving teams from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 2. Ten members of the UGA cheerleading squad will be joined by 20 members of the pep band from 9:45 to 10:15.

Note: It's good to see that UGA is being somewhat reasonable in evolving what was a terrible idea. It's progress. We still don't need as much of North Campus reserved for all of this non-sense, and it's still not about booze. It's about litter.
That said, I'm pleased that some progress is being made in balancing the situation.
For those that aren't familiar with Brooks Mall, it is basically broken into two parts. The front part = no booze. The back part is roughly the same size. It will be a bit harder to lug tailgating equipment back there, but it's progress.
Ideally, they would flip the two areas. But something is better than nothing. More progress is still needed.

The Georgia Sports Blog does not condone gambling, and we believe that sports lines are best used as a framework for open and warm hearted discussion between college football fans.
With that in mind, we note that the betting line for South Carolina vs. Florida Atlantic is 30.5 points. Given that the Lamecocks barely escaped Div I-AA Wofford by a score of 27-20, this seems like a good time to talk to your guy.

The Rocky Mountain News interviews Hawkins and Texas A&M's Coach Fran about SEC football gamedays in the South. Best line:
But [Hawkins] calls those Southern excursions "a tremendous experience" and no doubt believes CU will be better for its first trip to an SEC site in 26 years.Also from the Rocky Mountain News comes "Colorado to Face Lights out UGA Defense."

Michigan. Not to anger the quarter of a million UM Bloggers, but I don't think this team makes a national title run. The good news is a 10-2 Big 10 team still makes the BCS. A Lloyd Carr special at Penn State seams entirely possible.

Louisville is a much more legit national title contender than I first imagined. Their schedule makes it much more possible that they would gain a shot at a BCS Title than an undefeated West Virginia. The Nov. 2nd game with WVU looms large, and I don't know if they have the defensive speed to stop WVU. BUT, win and it's on.
3. Where is your team's sandtrap away game where nothing good ever happens.
Hello, I'm a Georgia fan. Everyone knows this one.

SEC East:
1. UF- UGA turns into bed wetters at the FLA state line
2. UGA - AU and UF look really tough.
3. UT - Losses to UGA, UF, LSU and maybe 1 more
4. SC - Losses to all the East big boys + Auburn
5. UK - A bad, bad team with an outside shot at bowl eligibility
6. Vandy - 0-8 or 1-7
SEC West:
1. AU - 1 loss or less. SEC Champs.
2. LSU - Win the UF game, and it's BCS bowling
3. UA - 8-9 wins is a piece of cake given this schedule
4. ARK - Liberty Bowl or Independence Bowl
5. OM - The Orgeron should be sweating his showdown with Vandy
6. MSU - 9.5 point underdogs to UAB on the road.

Update on Pollack
He's out of the hospital and Marvin Lewis says the email that went around was bogus.
Pollack was taken off the field on a stretcher early in the game. He was placed on injured reserve Monday and will miss the rest of the season.PWD
Guanciale, director of orthopedic spinal surgery at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, told the Web site that Pollack's "fracture was mild to moderate. His neurological status is normal. He has no spinal-cord involvement or injury."
The article said Pollack was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
The second-year player from Georgia will wear a protective halo for 12 weeks, undergoing exams and X-rays to determine treatment.
"As I talked to Dave, [wife] Lindsey and his family," Guanciale said, "there is a possibility he will have to have surgery in a few months."

Georgia - As I said Sunday, overall I'm pretty pleased. We have to get more out of our offensive line. Mainly the tackles. If they give us execution like we got in Columbia, we can play with anyone (and yes, I realize the Coots stink). If they give us effort and execution like we got vs WKU and UAB, not so much. All that said, Fernando Velasco (OG) won SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week and played the best game of his career. Best line from the weekend comes from DawgSports.com who said:
"The last time a Georgia squad opened the autumn with two shutouts in the Bulldogs' first three games, Mark Richt was nine years old."
Tennessee – UT flat out can’t run the ball. Their offensive line delivered 2 rushing yards on 22 carries vs the Gators. This follows the Air Force game where the Vols ran for 79 yards on 32 carries. The defensive coordinators of Georgia, LSU, Alabama and to a lesser extent South Carolina and Arkansas know how to stop one dimensional attacks. The Vols are in real trouble this year. So far, all Cutcliff has really brought to the Vols is an improved passing game, one hellified bad ass trick play, and the Ole Miss running game. Read More UT Thoughts:

Florida - Florida looked very good. The guy that jumped off the screen to me was Brandon James, the punt returner. He's Mikey Henderson with two working hamstrings. Another thing I noticed: this wasn't the UT vs. UF game of yore. The ultra violent, bloodsport death-match, hittingest game of the SEC year was played in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Not in Neyland. The Gators schedule is still far too difficult to run the table, but they are well positioned for big things this season. The SEC East will be decided at the Cocktail Party. More UF thoughts:

A throw to the 5 yardline?
LSU - Jemarcus Russell lost the Tigers that game in the 4th Quarter. Yes, the officiating was bad. Yes, LSU got rooked on the pass interference call. BUT, how can you take a sack with under 1 minute left when you have ALL DAY to roll out? THROW THE BALL AWAY. The Tigers are good enough to beat UT. As long as their offense isn't on the field with the game on the line in the final 2 minutes, they can beat the Gators too. Why? Because their run defense held Auburn to 72 yards on 38 attempts. With that run defense, you can beat anyone. More LSU thoughts:

Auburn - The Plainsmen defense imposed their will on the Cajuns allowing only 42 yards rushing on 23 carries. No LSU back gained more than 16 yards. The encouraging sign for UGA has nothing to do with them and everything to do with our own team. We're playing much better run defense this year than last. Granted, we've played a bunch of tomato cans, but the key to slowing down Auburn is in slowing down Kenny Irons. These blowout wins that we're getting right now are helping us build depth at defensive tackle and end. Depth that will be critical when we hit Jordan-Hare in late November. A win over the Gators in Jax likely gets us two games against the Tigers. More AU thoughts:

Alabama - The Tide is playing an all-time bad non-conference schedule. They will finally stop feasting on cupcakes and play a real football game vs. the Razorbacks. Win and they solidify their Top 25 ranking in both polls until the UF beatdown in 2 weeks. Lose and they won't see the Top 25 again until late October at best.

Arkansas - Mustain was named SEC Freshman of the Week and the Hogs won. Sure, they only squeaked by Vandy, but with a true freshman QB at the wheel anything can happen. RazorBloggers.net has the Good, Bad and Ugly from the Vandy game. The Hawgs host Bama on Saturday on CBS. The game will go a long way in revealing where both teams really stand.
Kentucky - The Cats are 2-1. They have games remaining against CMU (who just beat Akron...the team that beat NC State), Mississippi State, Vandy, ULM, and South Carolina. These guys still have a shot at the Liberty Bowl or another at-large spot.
Miss State - They lost to Tulane. No seriously. I'm not kidding Tulane won a game. What you don't believe me? Why would I lie about such a thing? Anyway, Hail Dear Ole State's T-Shirt is priceless. It's called "Sink the Slytanic." Do the link!
Ole Miss - When UK sends you fetching their smokes, times are bad. The Rebs lost to UK 31-14 primarily because of 5 turnovers and 12 penalties for 79 yards. That's right 12 penalties. When you rush for 205 yards and get 195 yards passing, you usually win vs. a team like Kentucky....unless you play like a bunch of tards via turnovers and penalties.
South Carolina - The Gamecocks needed an interception on the 10 yardline with 29 seconds left to avoid going into overtime against Div I-AA Wofford. To put that into perspective, Wofford is the type of team that Georgia Southern
Vanderbilt - Vandy is Vandy. If they could do us the HUGE favor of winning their next three games including TN State (home), Temple (home) and Ole Miss (away), then maybe our game with the 'Dores on Oct. 14th can work its way above the LFSports 12:30 pm kickoff time and onto ESPN2. Otherwise, that game is 12:30 (LFS) or 1:00 (PPV) kickoff (SEC Schedule).

The ACC Blows

How staggeringly bad is the ACC? Above average but hardly world-class teams like Boston College, Clemson and Georgia Tech look to be the only teams that can give Virginia Tech a run for its money. UNC, UVA, NC State and Miami all look to have new coaches next year, and Chan Gailey gets the great fortune of playing all of them plus Duke and Maryland. The ACC is way, way, way down.
