Boise State vs. UGA Preview

Courtest of JeromeFromDecatur and his Play Station

Tonight on Jerome’s Play Station 2…NCAA 06…Heisman Level…

Georgia 42
Boise State 35

In a game that was highlighted with high's and low's from first year starter D.J. Shockley (110 yards rushing on 11 carries, 8 of 16 passing for 340 yards, 3 TD's 3 INT's...with two of those pics occuring in the red zone) the JeromeFromDecatur led Georgia Bulldogs squeaked out a win against the up-start Boise State Broncos.

Obviously, Jerome did not stress special teams play as the Broncos scored twice on kickoff's. And Jerome "encouraged" Shockley to "just heave it up to #81" in the red-zone which led to disastrous results.

On defense, Jerome obviously misses Brian Van Gorder. Senior running back Lee Marks (#17) carved the Dawgs up with 149 yards rushing.

Plus, quarterback Jared Zabranski was on his way to having a decent day (4 for 11, 70 yards, TD) until Tony Taylor broke Zabranski's jaw at the beginning of the second quarter. Sorry Boise fans. Zabranski's out for the next 12 weeks.

When asked after the game about giving up over 400 yards on defense Jerome snapped at Ryan Jordan from the local press, "Did you watch the game?"

Jordan said he had.

"Well, then why aren't you asking about Shockley's 400 yards of total offense. Or the sudden spectacular and definitely unexpected contribution of Demiko Goodman (3 catches, 148 yards)? Why aren't you asking me about Thomas Brown's performance (10 carries 94 yards) or the fact that we won the game? Why aren't you congratulating me for sitting Golston, red-shirting Josh Johnson, and giving Darius Swain a stern talking to before the game?"

Jordan scratched his head as if to say, "Whatever, coach."

Afterward Jerome admitted that his failure to master the new hit stick feature allowed for a jillion yards after the catch. Plus his reliance on the zone blitz out of the dime cost him some big plays. He admitted that he might seek some special consultation for his defense next week as they prepare for Spurrier’s South Carolina squad.

All in all, a good night for the Dawgs. It's clear Jerome's coaching has a way's to go. He did have to deal with the Braves bullpen melting down, a phone call from his buddy Nick asking him why the Braves bullpen was always breaking down, a call from his buddy Chris asking if the Bama game was going to be televised, and a phone call from a girl named Anna he's been talking to, but in the end, the Dawgs had enough mojo to pull it out. Mojo...and Shockley in the Shotgun.

Good stuff. Man, I'm officially on married guy videogame purchasing schedule. I'm still finishing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Maybe next week my wife will let me try this new Pong thing I'm hearing all of the kids on the street talk about.

If the "secret consultant" is good enough for June Jones, then it's good enough for Jerome.
