Bama was razor thin to begin with this season because of the after effects of the NCAA scholarship reductions, and players continue to drop.
During the Mississippi State game, stud Center J.B. Closner went down with a broken leg. I worried early on that Bama didn't have the depth to make it through the final 2 regular season games unblemished.
With their offense lost since the Protho injury, I wonder...is Bama good enough to beat LSU and Auburn? Or are they headed to a 9-2 finish.
At some point, you have to score SOME points against good teams. Even when your defense is as good as Bama's D.
I just hope the Bama people give Shula a break if he drops the final two games. Patience has never been their strong suit. I'm not expecting a brick through the window, but the shine on an otherwise great season is about to come off.
On the brightside, Shula won't be the lowest paid coach in the SEC after this season regardless of how the next three games go.

Bill Curry also said you can't predict how young men will behave. Bama's played to their opposition all season, with the exception of turning into 11 Incredible Hulks against Florida. I think the Tide can win out, but it won't be pretty unless they draw energy from the crowd and play above their ability on O and stay solid on D.
Oh, and the Curry thing was a dark time for Bama athletics. He never should've been run off. But you always have those bad apples in the alumni/fan base.
Hack,
I've never heard anyone express regret over Curry. Was the victory over my Vols that soul cleansing?
Anyway, just thinking, IF (and I hope they do although I like LSU too) Bama goes undefeated, do you think it's at least possible Bama gets passed over by the BCS by a 1-loss Miami team? I think it's unlikely as Bama would've beaten some marquee teams to finish whereas Miami's luster after win over VT will fade a little and a win over FSU in ACC CG will not carry the same pinache as before. But still, it's possible don't you think.
I think Bama getting passed over would have more national impact than Auburn as frankly Bama carries a lot more prestige than the Aubies.
Just curious on your thoughts.
"I think Bama getting passed over would have more national impact than Auburn as frankly Bama carries a lot more prestige than the Aubies."
the Birmingham media would explode. It'd pretty much be the exact opposite of last year.
A quick thought on bama's #1 scoring defense. Wouldn't you say a large part of that is the fact they don't give up any trash points. You know, cause they can't afford to. Bama didn't have the luxury of giving up a last second meaningless TD to UT (unless you bet on the game) like UGA did. Same thing with Miss St, SoMiss, and just about every game besides Florida.
Nixforsix,
Re; giving up meaningless touchdowns. You're right in that Bama can't afford to. Frankly, I think UT's D is as good. The difference is that Bama's offense and special teams don't put the D in positions to give up points. For example, against ND, UT's D gave up 14 legit points. The other 27 were punt return for TD, 2 FGs after interceptions, interception for TD, and punt return that ended up in FG. Those points count "against" a D when in reality the D didn't allow them. In Bama's case, Croyle doesn't throw picks and the special teams don't give up points.
