Happy Elvis's Birthday!
At one time, this photo was the most requested document from the United States Archives in Washington, D.C. Take THAT Bill of Rights!
I highly recommend the definitive two-part Elvis biography by Peter Guralnick. The second volume has a fascinating account of Elvis's meeting with Richard Nixon in the Oval Office. Note the letter to Nixon requesting a meeting was written on airline stationary, which is explained in the book and part of the overall absurdity of the event.
This special occasion was observed in sold-out fashion last night at Atlanta's Variety Playhouse with a now-legendary Elvis Birth Day Concert by Kingsized. Don't miss the Elvis Death Day concert in August, as always complete with backup by the Sweet Potato Inspirational Choir, trombone section and Vegas-style showgirls.
