Wanted: Dose of Thunder

The bats came alive for the Diamond Dawgs as they beat the Gamecocks 11-5 to force a Game 3 on Monday night at 7:00 pm (ESPN). It was a very different vibe from Saturday's eight HR Carolina blowout.
In Game 1 of the series, the Bulldogs gave up 3/4 of a mile of home runs to South Carolina. No seriously. Each moon shot was well in excess of 400 feet. Many clearing 425 feet. The Gamecock blast over the scoreboard still hasn't landed. At some point, the sheer absurdity of the home run derby shifted from bad to comical. If you're going to lose Game 1 of a three game series, do it in style I guess.
Anyway, the Dawgs were fueled by outstanding pitching from Brooks Brown, Rip Warren and Josh Fields. As well as 17 hits. The only downside...Georgia continues to leave men stranded in droves. I think we left 12 on base in this one with 7 in scoring position. But I may be mistaken there.
We're the away team by choice in the 3rd game. I'm pretty sure that Dantzler pointed out the other day (give the devil his due), the Dawgs are undefeated in the gray unis this year. If that's correct, expect to see them again Monday.
Lastly, our pitcher for Monday will be Leaver.
