UGA vs. Colorado: Tale of the Tape

No proper analysis of the Georgia Bulldogs vs. the Colorado Buffaloes would be complete without a Tale of the Tape.

Image: Jim Hipple

Colorado's Offense vs. UGA's Defense
The Buffs have scored two TDs this season. UGA has allowed one TD this season. Edge: Georgia

Mascots: Ralphie vs. Uga
Uga VI is 55 pounds. Ralphie IV is 1100 pounds. Uga V was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Ralphie almost ran over Tom Osborne. Uga VI has an air conditioned dog house inside the stadium. Ralphie sits in the truck during games. Edge: Uga

Colorado's Defense vs. UGA's Offense
Field Goal U vs. Yoda's Press Defense. The last time we saw this in Athens, Richt and Shockley lit Hawkins' boys from Boise up like Clark Griswold's house on Christmas Eve. Edge: Georgia

Famous Residents Part I: Mork vs. Stipe
One is an alien from another galaxy who has strange customs and social patterns that mainstream America doesn't understand. The other is Mork. Michael Stipe is a Grammy Award winning member of REM and recently was inducted into Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Mork has a flying saucer that looks like an egg and drinks Orange Juice through his fingers. Neither have made a great album in a decade. Edge: Mork

Fulmer Cup Points
Colorado got rid of Gary Barnett because the program had become the Tennessee Vols of the Rocky Mountains in terms of off the field antics. Since Hawkins came on board, the newspapers have been mostly clear of any off the field antics. On the other hand, Georgia finished 8th in the Fulmer Cup rankings. Edge: Georgia (Barnett would've waxed Richt on this one)

Special Teams
Colorado has hit 3 of 6 field goals this year, and Georgia's Coutu is 7 for 7 from the three point line. UGA is 6th in the nation in net punting yards while the Buffs are 86th. Edge: Georgia

Famous Residents Part II: Mother Abigail Freemantle vs. Kim Basinger
Mother Abigail Freemantle was a female prophet of sorts who led the forces of good in Stephen King's The Stand as they settled in Boulder after the world wide plague. She was able to communicate to thousands of believers via dreams, and she talked directly to God. Ultimately, she organized the effort to bring down Randall Flagg and his entire Las Vegas collection of evil doers. On the other hand, Kim Basinger is very hot. Edge: Georgia

The Tale of the Tape is Clear.
Georgia 34
Colorado 6

It is worth noting that Colorado's kicking is perfect from under 50. It's still far from Georgia's kicking ability, but it's not like the guy (forgot his name) can't kick. He just can't kick long ones. For a Big 12 kicker, he's not that bad. If Colorado can get inside the 30, Georgia might see their shutout streak end.

Trust me, I'm a big fan of UGA I - VI, but a half-ton plus live animal that could, and nearly has, kill an opposing coach...I'm not sure that can be beaten. As an aside, it's much more active than Bevo.

I gave Uga the mascot edge because he gets to watch the game.

Plus, Ralphie is a female. Uga would never hit a woman.

Nice The Stand reference.

M-O-O-N. That spells Dawgs 35, CU 10.

M-O-O-N,

That spells, "Anon - You are today's king of the Westerdawg interwebs."

"Richt and Shockley lit Hawkins' boys from Boise up like Clark Griswold's house on Christmas Eve"
A few of the lights aren't twinkling.

Mascot - Georgia:
UGA also gets to lick his balls and Ralphie doesn't have any.

Funny...but the dig on REM can never be forgiven.

good blog, but CU's kicker, Mason Crosby has the strongest leg in the nation and that includes the NFL. He's missed his 3 attempts over 50, but there were various reasons (high wind, etc). He will hit a 65 yd fg before the end of the year. Here's to a great game. Go Buffs!

Mason Crosby is the best kicker in the nation college or pro. His misses were all from 58+ yards. He kicked a 61 yd fg, but it was called off because the other team had supposedly called a TO.

UGA has teh best kicker. It is nice that Mason Crosby can kick a long way, but so can Coutu. The difference that instead of missising a lot of those 50+ yard kicks, Coutu actually makes them.

Coutu can kcik a 61 yard FG, but UGA will likely not give him the chance. We will not be desparate to have to score, but Richt might let him kick one if it is a blowout and to just give him the opportunity.

"A few of the lights aren't twinkling.."

It just seems like the field gets hooter and hooter . . .uh . . . hotter and hotter every year.

If Coutu is so great, then why doesn't he have The longest field goal in history at sea level without a tee? (See 2005, jr. year). Y'all play at sea level, don't you? Shouldn't the great Coutu have that record?

(By the way, the only smack we got this year is kicker smack)

I've seen Coutu hit from 67 while warming up before the game and at halftime...from the hash.

Some of these Colorado fans don't know what the hell they are talking about. Brandon Coutu also hit a 58 yarder last year, and it would have been good from at least 3 or 4 yards farther out. No, we don't play at sea level, but its not much above. I seriously doubt its harder to kick at Miami than in North Georgia. That's just an asterik added by Colorado to try and give Crosby the award for longest kick without a tee even though someone is actually tied with him for that honor...Coutu. If you dont believe me there is a link below. Oh yeah, and let Crosby try a 50+ yarder in this game...he will soon be 3 for 7 on the year, because we will jump up and block it.
