Is Grobe a Viable Candidate for a Big Time Job?

I've seen some Bama fans talking Jim Grobe as a possible replacement for Shula. You know...if Saban, Spurrier, Pete Carroll, Vince Lombardi and Amos Alonzo Stagg all turn them down. Once you look closer at his resume, it makes you wonder if it would be a decision on par with Bama hiring Bill Curry. Consider....

In six years at Ohio, Grobe went 33-33-1. At Wake, he has gone 35-34 in six seasons. He's had four winning seasons in twelve years, and this will be his second bowl trip.

Still...he's done wonders with Wake right? However, 54 percent of his wins have come against the other schools in North Carolina (UNC, NCSU, ECU, Duke, NC A&T and Appy State). In fact, he is 19-5 vs. the State of North Carolina as coach of Wake Forest.

So Bama fans...that means if you get Auburn, LSU and Tennessee to hire Tier C coaches like Amato, Bunting and Roof, then Jim Grobe is your man. Against the rest of his schedule at Wake, he is 16-29.

He's a very good coach, but that's not the resume of a guy that a prime time school hires. Not yet anyway.
