In 2009, Oklahoma State is going to debut Boone Pickens Stadium's renovation with sort of a Grand Opening against Georgia on ESPN. The OSU facility is being upgraded as part of a $165 million gift from OSU benefactor Boone Pickens.
Here's what the stadium used to look like (circa...who the hell knows)
Here's the renovation.

It reminds me of the work that Arkansas did in Fayetteville combined with the endzone project at Clemson. It's a facility to be proud of, and the environment will be nuts when we show up in Stillwater.

I met an Oklahoma State fan this past weekend down in Orlando - that's right, I was at Disney World - and he said everyone was pretty fired up about an SEC team coming to Stillwater. He said they were all envious when Alabama headed out to Oklahoma a few years back.
Coupled with the trip to Arizona to take on the Sun Devils, this should be pretty cool.
When I saw that (I assume) computer-generated depiction of the stadium renovations, my first thought was, "Holy crap, is everybody making Lego models of stadiums now?"
OSU knows how to do good renovations. They have one of the oldest basketball arenas in the college game and recently redid it. They lowered the floor and added a few thousand seats and made the place look brand spanking new. If I'm not mistaken, the basketball arena and the football stadium will connect in the one open endzone.
Hey Kyle... I WISH!! :-)
The basketball arena floor is the original floor. The existing arena was built as a shell over the old arena. They removed the roof of the old arena and expanded the stands up and out.
We're very happy with the renovations occuring at OSU.
The basketball arena renovation actually took up the East endzone bleachers, reduced stadium capacity by few thousand, and created luxury sky boxes that overlook both the basketball games and the football field.
The renovations of both the North and South sides have been completed with added a Club level on both sides, and approximately 35 additional luxury suites.
The West endzone project (WEZ) currently underway is larger in square footage than both the North and South sides combined. Seating will be completed for the 2008 season, but the insides of the structure (coaches offices, new weight room, locker rooms, training table, etc. will not be finished until you visit in 2009.
We're hoping that the adjacent $50 million dollar indoor practice facility will also be complete by 2009.
Here is a like to the live webcam of the WEZ construction. There is a link at the top that shows other still pictures.

The WEZ expansion will add an additional 30 luxury suites approximately, and will expand capacity to around 60,000.
We can't wait!
Looking forward to a great game between the hedges -- Many of us Pokes are expecting a win. Can't wait.
