This and That Dawg Articles

We start with a little recruiting news. On Friday, Georgia hosted its Senior Awards Gala. This black tie optional dinner/silent auction/awards show has been an Athens tradition since Donnan debuted the event around '98. I've been around five times, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

The unique nature of the event sets it up as the cornerstone to one of Georgia's best recruiting weekends for official visits. Our close rate for kids attending this event is exceptionally high. Georgia is hosting 11 recruits this weekend. Chad Simmons talked about the recruiting weekend earlier in the week, and Ted Kian adds additional color. Ted also talks about UGA prospective recruits visiting other schools this weekend. Steve Patterson also talks about the OL recruiting in general.

As for our current team, Charles Johnson is leaning heavily towards going profiling paperwork for the draft, but leaning towards staying according to Josh Kendall. Also, redshirt freshman Chris Davis is moving to center from his offensive guard spot.

Around the blogosphere, we see a new UCLA-UGA Blog called "What's Bruin, Dawg?" (Hat tip - DawgSports.com). TheCourtMaster has a new blog dedicated to positive stories in college football, and The Red and Black newspaper has a new Bulldog Basketball Blog, but unfortunately it's already grossly out of date.

And in feel good story news, check out this piece from the Albany Herald about walk-on Stephen White.

That article says he is leaning towards staying. Did I miss something?

I. Am. A. Moron.

You are right. I have no idea how I blew that so badly.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't object to a stud like large Charles leaving early. I don't think he is the type to get injured, though, and another year of wreaking havoc in backfields and knocking down passes gets him up higher in the draft, so I think it is a little better for him to stay, if only to show that he wasn't just the beneficiary of Moses' double teams. I hope he stays.

Oh. Sorry. I had several people send it to me. My mistake.
