PWD,
What can you give us in the way of a reflection on Danny Ware's career at Georgia?
My thoughts are:
1. solid YPC average
2. dependable when we needed him most - the first half of his freshman year (before the emergence of T. Brown)
3. some fond memories of important touchdowns (e.g. '06 South Carolina)
4. some bad memories of untimely fumbles (e.g. West Virginia) and mistakes (e.g. dropped sure TD pass ag. Va. Tech). But no player that's ever gotten the number of snaps in a UGA uniform that Ware did will ever have a career without at least some mistakes.
5. I also seem to remember Danny catching a few TD passes. Seems like he had a big one last year against somebody, but I can't place it right now.
6. In a day and age of suspensions stemming from off-the-field problems, Ware never seemed to give us any of those.
7. Improved greatly as a blocker during his time at UGA.
8. Maybe what hurt Ware most, if I remember correctly, was his injuries in 2004 that allowed for the emergence of Thomas Brown, who proved himself a very capable and sure-handed back.
8. If Ware is the featured back for 2004-2006 (and stays healthy), where do you think he shakes out in reference to the all-time list of RB's at UGA? Stats-wise, at least, I think he lands somewhere in the middle of the pack. Ware seemed to have the talent to compete in the SEC (although not as elusive as some, and certainly lacking the breakaway burst), but was victimized by coming to UGA during years with a crowded and talented backfield. Were he here in 2003 (Michael Cooper and Tyson Browning), he would have likely seen a greater share of the workload.
Just my opinions. Would love to get the thoughts of those more perceptive than me.
Danny Ware is a talented guy that fumbled his way out of the starting lineup.
pwd
also had the longest run from scrimmage in Richt's tenure here last year against Kentucky. Something like a 54 yard run that was impressive.
Danny caught TD passes vs. Boise and vs. Miss. St. last year.
I will always remember Danny for his toughness. He wasn't flashy or extremely fast. But he was quick through the hole and punished people when they tried to get him down.
My most fond memory was definitely the South Carolina game in 03, when Danny came out of the game the camera zoomed in on him with his forehead pouring with blood. He along with Cooper and Browning contributed greatly to that win, but I'll always remember Danny's bloody head!
Danny Ware, Damn Good Dawg. Good luck to him.
I will always remember Ware dropping a wide open pass that would have been a touchdown in the Chickfli-a/Peach Bowl. Not really sure where he is thinking he will be drafted but I guess if I had the choice to make a solid amount of money by leaving a awesome program with a great coach and a young team with alot of promise in the future that might just have the potential for a very special year next year I would leave to.Not to mention in the AJC article his agent makes Ware sound very bitter towards the program. Even talking about him transferring to a Div-II school.
Good Luck Danny.
If you check out the AJC pictures the one of Cotu looks like Disco Steve from the Simpsons. They need to do whatever it takes to keep that leg of his fresh. I mean I am willing to quit my job and move to Athens and let him jump on my back and take him where ever he needs to go so that he does not need to walk anymore. He needs to have fresh legs. GO DAWGS
