Hoops Schedule: UGA vs. Duke next year?

Image: Georgiadogs.com

I missed this nugget in Thursday's Athens Banner Herald.
Georgia is trying to finalize a deal to play the Duke Blue Devils this December at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Bulldogs assistant coach Pete Herrmann has said. The Bulldogs have never faced the perennial ACC power from North Carolina.
It's a very classy move by Felton to give Sundiata Gaines the opportunity to play in front of his home town friends, family and fans in Madison Square Garden as a Senior. Next year, Dave Bliss will also get to play a game in his home state of Wisconsin as a senior. It helps recruiting players out of state when you can show them that you'll work to get a game in their hometown/state.

Playing Duke is also a win-win for the Dawgs. If you lose, so what. No one expected you to win anyway. If you win, it's on like donkey kong.

Next year's known match-ups (unofficial):
    Georgia Tech (home)
    Wake Forest (home)
    Western Kentucky (away)
    Wisconsin (away)
Gonzaga (away/neutral Seattle?) - not sure
    Duke (away/neutral MSG)
Hopefully, we'll renew the Clemson series as well. It's been a competitive series with UGA winning the ATL and Athens games, and Clemson winning in Greenville and at Hartwelll U. The WKU deal is the final game of the required four year series that inherited when we hired Felton.

wasn't this year's game against the Zags a return game for the one up there two or three years ago?

I thought Harrick did a 2 game neutral site deal with them. And Felton inherited both games.

The first one was the overtime game in Seattle his first year. The second one was in Phillips I think.

This latest game part of a new series.

At least that's what my old man memory says.

I had to go back and look this up.
Saw the game, just did not remember
when. Getting older
In November of 2003,Gonzaga beat
UGA in OT, in Spokane.
I think the game for next season
is in Spokane.
Would like game to be in Seattle, less
travel and the weather can really
suck in Eastern Wa. in the winter.
