The College Football Season draws a tiny bit closer when the preseason mags hit the newstands. SouthernPigSkin.com has all of Athlon's covers online including the UGA Matt Stafford version.
The Falcons signed Tony Taylor and Gordon Ely-Kelso as free agents. It was cool of Brian Van Gorder to vouch for Taylor and give him a shot so close to home. In other UGA and GT news, five more undrafted Georgia players have agreed to free-agent deals with NFL teams: linebacker Jarvis Jackson, Tennessee; safety Tra Battle, San Diego; running back Danny Ware, Tennessee; linebacker Danny Verdun Wheeler, Chicago; and center Nick Jones, Seattle.
According to the link above, Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball could be reunited with receiver Calvin Johnson, picked by Detroit at Number 2 overall on Saturday.
Nine Gators were drafted in this weekend's draft while another 8 signed free agents. It's hard to imagine that this isn't a rebuilding year for Florida after losing 17 players of this caliber.
EDSBS has your full Fulmer Cup scoring update. At this point, it would take a scene rivaling the final moments of Scarface to overthrow Penn State from 1st place as they posted a staggering 42 point performance recently. To put that score into perspective, Marshall won last year's Fulmer Cup with 15 points.
And for some solid humor check out the Project 119 site. These guys are visiting all 119 College Football Stadiums. Their visit to Cincy's stadium revealed some solid comedy in the snow (ht - thewiz) See below.

Why did Cincy put Mike Adams' picture in the snow?
What do do you think Calvin said when he found out Reggie had been signed?
DAMN.....to quote Ron Simmons
What's the deal with the pentagram with the G in the middle? We don't worship the devil or anything. And nobody can prove that Stafford sold his soul in exchange for Tereshinski's injury during last years South Carolina game. That's all just a big rumor. How about a caption that's a little less inspired by the forces of darkness?
I noticed the G-symbol too and wasn't a big fan. That is design over substance that failed.
