New RV Park from Pollack, Greene and Butler

Somehow I missed this back in March. Apparently, David Greene, Kevin Butler and David Pollack have teamed up to bring a new RV park to Athens called "Bulldog Park." CBS46 has the info. Amenities offered:
    * Oversized pad with room for the RV and 2 automobiles
    * Easy access to the pad for your RV
    * Full hookups for electrical, sewer, cable and water
    * Pavilion with climate controlled restrooms and showers
    * Entertainment area
    * BBQ's and picnic table areas
    * Playground
    * 10-15 minute shuttle service to and from the stadium beginning 2 hours before kickoff
    * Security staff
    * Attendants for the restrooms and picnic areas on game days
    * Game day entertainment
    * Key entry to the facility
    * Professionally landscaped
    * Area for pets
Key facts:
    -- Location
    -- Site Plan (250 spots)
    -- FAQ
    -- Cost = $30,000 one time purchase for space plus yearly maintenence fee
That's a lot of coin, but in the grand scheme of what a top flight RV cost...is it really that big a deal?

I'm growing tired of the "David & David" marketing strategy, notwithstanding the Butler wrinkle here. Immediately I can think of the restaurant that was on Baxter, one of the new highrise condo developments downtown, now this. I'm sure there are others that I do not recall. The repetition makes what was already a silly concept even more ridiculous.

Unless the service they are offering is to teach my kid how to throw a football or rush the passer, the attachment of Greene & Pollack's names don't make me want to buy anything.

It doesn't have to make you want to buy. BUT...it does give their ventures greater opportunity to get noticed.

Do you honestly think this blog or any of the half dozen local papers who covered their announcement would've written 1 word about it if it had been Darren announces new RV park?

Good for them. At least they're investing their dollars in Athens and not Cincy or Seattle.

Nope. I'm just amazed that theirs gets covered. Really, who cares?

And yessir, PWD, as an Athens resident, I do appreciate them doing business here.

Are we talking "Dick Sergeant" Darren or "Dick York" Darren or God help us "Will Ferrell" Darren?

On a more serious note, $30K for a tailgate spot is a lot even counting the cash you may have spent on an RV. Especially for one that's a 10-15 minute shuttle from campus. At least that Tailgate Station is only a 10-15 minute walk from campus.

If David Pollack opened a whore house, chicken house or out house, I'd promote it here.

That's the love I show the greatest defensive player of my lifetime to ever wear red and black.

As a 2 time alumni of UGA, I certainly take pride that when our former athletes invest money in business ventures, especially in the community of Athens, than the myriad of negative/worthless things that they could be doing given their financial/status positions in life.

Forget that though, the real wuestion is, in that picture, did the UGA bus just come to a badass emergency brake turn to the side, action movie car sequence, stop? Or did it just run over a Tennessee vehicle leaving it literally in the dust? Or did it just plow through a Florida tailgate causing the BBQ grill to be smashed and torch the orange tent set up?

Or was is something else that caused the huge cloud of smoke? Perhaps Rueben Houston?

Anonymous, there's this little thing in marketing called "name recognition," and it's the reason Donald Trump plasters his name on anything he is selling.

The "David and David" marketing scheme may seem stupid to you, but those are two of the more recognizable names in Georgia athletics. They put their names on something and it's going to get free publicity it otherwise wouldn't. That's just good business.

Hmm. I don't think I'm buying Trump- The Lunchbox, either. And I'm pretty certain that Trump puts his name all over everything because he's an egomaniac.

Finally, let me be clear that I'm not criticizing Greene & Pollack (despite the fact that, at some point, shame should kick in - see Stroker Ace in the chicken suit). I'm simply amazed that the David & David association would factor into anyone's purchasing calculus.

Finally, Dante makes the best point about this place: $30K to be 15 minutes away by bus, across the street from the big post office? Wow.

This is not Darren from Kramerica is it? Still bitter about the oil bladder system?

kanu - that is the best post I've seen in a long time. I'm hoping it was the UF scenario, but my gut tells me it was Mr. Houston.

Darren - you're either a moron or a gnat fan. Take your pick.
My dad bought a spot for his monster RV & the trnsaction had nothing to do with the Davids or Butler. It was simply a good business decision. Like it or not, the Davids have a head for investing & a love for UGA & the Athens community.
If you don't like it - don't buy it. That Simple.

Kanu - That thang's got a hemi.

For the cost of the pad sites, that is a pretty crappy looking site plan. Tell the David's to send it on up here to a gradute of the fine UGA School of Environmental Design (#1 in the country ya'll)for some eye popping graphics to better sell that stuff. :-)
