-- As you know by now, the Men's Tennis Team won another national title on Tuesday. Congrats to Coach Diaz and team.
-- Lots of articles around the pressure on Matt Stafford as he leads the Dawgs. David Ching talks about the offense needing (and being able to) pick up the slack for the defense which should be down this year. Rivals.com has a free article about young QBs in general. While Senator Blutarsky has the best headline on this topic of anyone. The Columbus-Ledger also has an article on early enrollees which references Stafford and Zeier.
-- Tongue in Cheek Rumor: Paul Oliver to the Lions in Round 1 of the Supplemental draft.
-- Senator Blutarsky also is leading a discussion online around the need for an early signing period in college football. Post 1 and the follow-up from the Senator. See also comments from Scripps Howard news service and Dawgsonline.com. Personally, I don't see the value in it for college football coaches. In basketball, there are usually 3-5 kids signed per team per year and recruiting is aggressively pushed forward to the Sophs and earlier. In college football, they are signing 18-28 kids per year. The process won't be easier on college coaches, it'll just start sooner. Therefore causing them to be much more aggressive with more kids spread across more age brackets. I don't see this as a win for the coaches, but they seem eager to embrace this model. More power to 'em.
That's all for now.
