2007 ESPN College Gameday Location Predictions (Weeks 9-13)

I'm taking a crack at projecting the sites for ESPN's College GameDay's telecasts in 2007. The forecast is rather long so I'm breaking it into three separate posts.

Weeks 1-4 were detailed Tuesday, and we discussed Weeks 5-8 on Wednesday. The first post in the series also explains how I came up with these conclusions. I heavily leveraged the LSUsports.net web site for the best composite week to week schedule that I've seen.

With that as a backdrop...here are my predictions for Weeks 9-13...

Rutgers' last big TV appearance was goooooood times

Week 9 (Oct. 27th)
Prediction: West Virginia at Rutgers
Why: Both teams have cupcake schedules leading into this match-up, and both should be ranked pretty high. WVU will likely be ranked in the Top 5 by late October. The Big East really only has one shot at hosting GameDay. The rest of their big games will be on Thursdays. Rutgers has a legit of shot of hosting this one.
Other Candidates: Ohio State at Penn State is a prime time telecast for ABC/ESPN. However, it's unlikely that this game will match two teams as highly rated as the WVU/Rutgers affair. Nebraska at Texas is another one to keep an eye on.

Stay classy Buckeyes

Week 10 (Nov. 3rd)
Prediction: Wisconsin at Ohio State
Why: Really, it's wide open. If Bama is ranked in the Top 25 (a long shot) and LSU is having the season most experts predict, they could end up in Tuscaloosa. Simply because of the great storyline.
Other Candidates: LSU at Bama or Texas A&M at Oklahoma.

Typical Cal fan

Week 11 (Nov. 10th)
Predictions: USC at Cal
Why: This is essentially the Pac-10 Championship Game. You think they're going to miss a big Southern Cal game?
Other Candidates: There aren't many other realistic candidates. Georgia and Auburn would both have to have miracle seasons for GameDay to even consider it. And if we were that good, CBS would televise the game. No way we get to host. FSU at Virginia Tech is another candidate.

Week 12 (Nov. 17)
Prediction: Ohio State at Michigan
Why: Seriously. Do I really need to fill this area out? It's ESPN after all.
Other Candidates: There really isn't one. Miami at VT looks decent. The SEC has a crap schedule this week with UK at Georgia being the possible flagship game.

Week 13 (Nov. 24)
Prediction: No earthly idea
Why: Realistically, it's the most wide open week of the year. There are lots of good games that sound great like FSU at Florida, Oregon at UCLA, OkSU vs. OU, UGA at GT, SC at Clemson, etc. The highest ranked team playing anyone of note will have Corso in attendance. Hell, they could cover the UGA/GT game for all I know.

If I do as horribly on this as I think I'm going to do, I'll not do this is in the future. lol.

How about this scenario for November 24th: in an unprecedented move, ESPN visits Atlanta and lets Munson do a final play-by-play, this time to a national audience?

Yes, I know, pipe dream. But oh man, that would be awesome.

Even if you do bomb on the predictions, this was a great read. I hope you do it next summer, cause these days are so slow waiting for summer.

I think it could be South Carolina at Fayetteville...they will want to be at the home of the future Heisman winner at least once. Plus, I think South Carolina will be a contender in the SEC East.
