You may be wondering why Alabama and Auburn didn't offer Jones. According to Scott Kennedy of Scout.com
"I think Alabama has two scholarships for linemen this year, and they're holding the last one for Tyler Love. Auburn has one spot, and I think they want Antoine McClain. [It's] a good year to go linemen hunting in Alabama."
Any Bama fans that tells you "we didn't want him anyway" is kidding themselves. A few weeks ago, I posted this video of Jones dominating the Scout.com camp at Georgia Tech. When Bama fans found out that Jones was camping in Tuscaloosa, they linked to that video from TiderInsider, Bama's Scout site, Bama's Rivals Site, the Rivals.com national site and other Bama oriented message boards. The fan consensus upon viewing the footage was, "Wow. Let's get this kid an offer now."

Jones grew up a Georgia fan, and his father (who passed away when he was very young) attended Georgia. According to Dean Legge's Scout.com article, Jones actually attended the 2002 Georgia/Bama game in Tuscaloosa wearing a David Greene jersey.

This is a very talented kid with a great motor who was discovered relatively late in the recruiting process. When he got the offer he wanted, he jumped on it. Good for him.

I'm personally thrilled to sign two linemen from Alabama (Owens is the other). Remember all those great Georgia high school players who went to Auburn and played like their hair was on fire against us? It'd be nice to turn some of that motivation around when we play the Tide and Tigers.
