Calm before the storm....

I think the SEC media types are trying to take some time off in anticipation of SEC Media Days next week. Thus the slowness.

As for the Caleb King story yesterday. I'm tired of doing my normal bit on the whole driving with a suspended license thing. Dean Legge at DawgPost nailed it when he said, "There was no fighting; no drugs; no alcohol; no major event occurred beyond a traffic violation."

Exactly. It's nothing. No way he gets suspended so who cares.

He was driving a MOPED! A motorized bicycle.

Here in Maryland, you don't need a driver's licence for a moped. I didn't think you needed one in Georgia. Apparently the UGA Gestapo is still at its heavy handed tactics!

He was also on Sanford Drive which is sometimes a 1 way and sometimes a 2 way street.

Although, I've seen the cops staking out that intersection waiting for folks to do the wrong way thing there at the wrong time.

Good use of funds. Staking out the bridge.

Insert rolling eyes.

(BTW -- The excuse of it being a moped isn't really valid. If you have to wear a motorcycle helmet, you know you need a driver's license. And if the motor is big enough to move Inman's big a$$, it's big enough to no longer be thought of as a bicycle).

Paul, have you considered running for the Legislature? That's as lucid an explanation of the helmet law as I've heard.

I just fell out of my chair laughing! Nice.

THAT WAS TOO FUNNY

But

I swear the cops in athens must have it out for players. Nothing im proud about but in my younger years I have caught every one of the charges that UGA players have caught. Open container, driving with suspended license, under-age possesion & a couple more that are probably worse.

BUT I NEVER GOT ARRESTED! NEVER..always got a ticket

They need something better to do with their time!

The whole point of mopeds in the Carolinas is so that drunkards with muliple DUI's and no license at all can drive them. On the roads. With NO helmets. Gotta love Carolina logic... but sadly Caleb could use a little goofy Carolina logic right about now. I'm so sick of these a-hole, overzealous UGA and ACCPD cops right about now. Between them, our retarded UGA pres and the stupid mayor ruining strip clubs and such too, it's safe to say they're trying to outlaw common sense and FUN in the Classic City...

Even if it was an actual bicycle, I'm sure the gestapo would have found some trumped up charge for which to arrest him. I have known people to get DUI's and $110 tickets for running a stop light in Athens.

Yeah, running red lights should be okay and the police should just let it go and if they pull over a person who runs the red light and find he has been drinking then they should just let him drive home.

I guess you never heard of someone being seriously injured when a moron runs a red light.

he didn't run a red light. he went the wrong way down a street that's marked bi-directional at different times of the day.

I've got no problem with them pulling him over. How else could they tell he wasn't drunk?

But a warning on lots of this stuff would be a better use of their time.

You know...why actually go to where the criminals are...when you can safely sit and stop students from committing minor traffic violations.
