Best Football Day of the Year: Nov. 10th

If you're a college football fan, check your Lay-Z-Boy's pull lever for proper WD-40 lubrication, focus on your TIVO/DVR decisions and chill the beer a little colder on November 10th because you have tough decisions to make.

That weekend will present you with the best college football watching day of the year. Check out this slate of games:
    SEC
  • Auburn at Georgia - the Deep South's oldest rivalry. The home team is 5-11-1 since '90 in this series. A trend we're hoping to buck this year.

  • Arkansas at Tennessee - McFadden & Co. meet up with a Vol squad looking for revenge. The Vols will have a shot to cinch the East and McFadden could be stalking the Heisman in this one a best. At worst, both teams should still be in contention for New Years Day Bowls.

  • Florida at South Carolina - Meyer is 1 play away from starting his career 0-2 vs. Spurrier, and he's facing arguably South Carolina's most talented squad since 1984. The last two games were incredibly entertaining. Expect more of the same.

    ACC
  • Florida State at Virginia Tech - If FSU's new coaches do their job, this could be a preview of the ACC title game. Both teams could have BCS At-Large or better dreams. VT is exceptional at home, but Beamer is 0-7 vs. Bowden.

  • Boston College at Maryland - If BC wants to win the Atlantic division, they'll most likely have to win this game.

  • Virginia at Miami - This shouldn't be a big game, but with Patrick Nix calling the plays in Coral Gables, this could be a great upset type affair.

    Others
  • Michigan at Wisconsin - The Wolverines play OSU, ND, Penn State and Oregon at home this year. This is their only tough road game. This will decide UW's chances at a BCS at-large at a minimum.

  • USC at Cal - I believe this is the defacto Pac-10 Title Game. Obviously, UCLA fans would disagree.

  • Texas Tech at Texas - The Red Raiders will need a win here to have a shot at the Cotton, Holiday or Gator Bowls. A loss and it's hard to imagine they end up anywhere interesting. The Horns should be narrowing in on the Big 12 South title or a BCS At-Large birth with this game.

  • Fresno State at Hawaii - One of only three legit chances for the Warriors to take a loss.
And just to get you primed for the weekend, West Virgina hosts Louisville on Thursday Night. Weekends like this are why you need TV and Satellite reception at your tailgate. UGA vs. Auburn will either be a 3:30 pm (my assumption) or an evening ESPN/ESPN2 pm kickoff. Either way, the remote control will be burning up as we bounce from quality game to quality game.

Yeah I love those 2 or 3 Saturdays that are loaded with great matchups. By the time the FSN late Pac-10 game is on I'm hardly coherent.

Just found out my non-sporty cousin is having his wedding on this day.

Should I go?
