Frank Beamer says UGA spied on Hokies before Peach Bowl

Beamer has been listening to the voices in his neck again.

Frank Beamer is closing practices going forward at Virginia Tech because he says there are too many people watching practice that he doesn't know. He specifically says the following about the Chick-Fil-A Bowl game vs. Georgia.
Beamer noted he learned a valuable lesson during his club's preparations for last year's Chick-fil-A Bowl, in which he team lost 31-24 to Georgia.

"We practiced out at Georgia Tech and we let all kinds of people through there ... people we didn't really know," Beamer said. "And I thought it hurt us in the bowl game. I'm not blaming anybody ... but I thought Georgia knew exactly what we were doing in several situations.

"What we've done is when we get to 'team' type stuff we're closing practice down. I think that's in our best interests. I want to give our football team the best opportunity to win on Saturday."
I'm sorry, but what? The Hokies were up 21-3. If we were stealing signs or plays, wouldn't we have leveraged that information sooner. You know before we almost got blown out the Dome?

Maybe, he's referring to the second half when Stafford got us out of bad plays and audibled their defense out of relevance. After years of QBs who are dumb (see: The Mexico Brothers) or incompetent (see: S. Glennon), maybe Beamer didn't realize that QBs are allowed to check out of bad plays when the defense gives away their blitzes pre-snap.

Or maybe, just maybe Beamer is right. Could it be that two Dawg Nation Patriots with extensive training in espionage and stealth with full certification in all Spy Matters actually did watch practices and report back to Coach Richt?

Could it be that the Georgia spies were captured only to escape after in-depth questioning including:
Beamer: Every minute you don't tell us why you're here, I cut off a finger.

Dawgnoxious: Mine your yours?

Beamer: Yours.

Westerdawg: Damn.
Dawgnoxious and Paul Westerdawg would know nothing about that.

Yeah, and we also used our inside man, Patrick Nix, to do what he does to any team spending the week over on the Flats prepping for UGA...teach the QB to fumble and throw multiple interceptions.

boo hoo my neck bag is full.

Bad form there, anon 2:27. Beamer may have been out of line with his comment, but yours is off the charts.

Try and show a little class next time.

Grow a sense of humor andrew. Go dawgs!

Good lord that pisses me off. Spying on them was the only way we could have beat them? I hope his neck explodes the day of his daughters wedding. Enjoy that andrew.

Tisk, tisk, tisk. Isn't it a shame when a coach has to go about blaming everyone except himself for the loss. Too bad he wasn't talking about someone spying the QB on defense. The only "trick play" that I recall was the one that was tipped into the hands of a Hokie before thrown downfield. Sure is a shame how we let that one go...you know... since we knew what they were going to do.

Frank Beamer's statements are as Hokie as his team. (Yes, I do love bad puns!)

In other news, Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey is lodging similar accusations with respect to the Dawgs' play in the first half of the Peach Bowl.

"You can't tell me they didn't get those plays from us," Gailey told reporters. "All those incomplete passes and draw plays that got snuffed out at the line of scrimmage? Come on. That was straight out of our playbook."

Russian Interregator #1:
"Why are you here?"

Emmett Fitz-Hume:
"Why am I here? Why are you here? Why is anybody here? I think it was Jean-Paul Sartre who once said... how do you spell spell Sartre?"

[soldier slaps him]

Emmett Fitz-Hume:
"Owww... and let that be a lesson to you."

If he's dumb enough to have an open practice before his bowl game, I'd HOPE we'd be smart enough to send someone to watch...

I didn't get to go to any GT games in my flex-pack so I thought I would go to three VT practices instead.

What a freaking joke. Living near Blacksburg I've had to put up with arrogant Hokie fans for years and now they're whining and saying we cheated? Geez, just another reason to hate them now.

LJ,
I live in Roanoke, and even if I had to go to their practices to spy, I wouldn't do it. I would never make it out of that thug den.
Exactly what did special teamer Beamer see that made him think we knew they would have their backs turned on that onside kick? The one that changed the entire game?

Congratulations to another Georgia team beating a team from Virginia. The Ga. State Little League 12 year old champions (of Warner Robbins) earned the right with their 3-1 victory tonight to play Thur. night on ESPN for a trip to the World Series. Spy: "I'm here with secret the Virginia Tech practice coverage."

Coach Richt: "Oh great. Maybe you could say that a little louder. We could open a window and you could shout it towards Blacksburg."

Now, let me get this straight, ok ?

QUOTES :

"We practiced out at Georgia Tech and we let all kinds of people through there ... people we didn't know," Beamer was quoted as saying by the Roanoke (Va.) Times.

"And I thought it hurt us in the bowl game. I'm not blaming anybody"

"but I thought Georgia knew exactly what we were doing in several situations."

PRETTY SPECIFIC, ISN'T IT ?

COACH RICHT ALSO IS NOT CONFUSED BY FRANK BEAMER'S WHININGS :

Georgia coach Mark Richt said he understood Beamer's concerns but that the Bulldogs didn't have anyone at Virginia Tech's practices.

"I can assure Coach Beamer we had no idea about anything going on," Richt said.

Beamer, who has a vacation home not far from Athens on Lake Oconee, said he might call Richt to make sure there is no misunderstanding.

"The gist of it was there were so many people at our practice that we didn't know," Beamer told the AJC.

"I know Mark. He's a good guy."

"The last thing I was doing was accusing Georgia of spying," Beamer said. "And I don't think I insinuated that."

No, no one thought you even so much as insinuated that Coach Richt cheated.

"but I thought Georgia knew exactly what we were doing in several situations."

You are a liar Frank Beamer.
