Michael at Braves and Birds takes a look at teams he believes are very likely to be overrated this year based what he calls "The Charles Rodgers Theorem" which is a means to identify overrated teams based on the confluence of two factors:
1. Lots of returning skill position players, but few returning linemen; andThe theory is great for eyeballing teams like Clemson 2004 and Tennessee '05. Unfortunately, he lists Georgia as the most likely to be overrated team based on this. It's actually hard for me to disagree. Considering the train wreck of our offensive line and the fact that we lost 3 of 4 starters on defense, we are indeed green up front. It's a long read, but it's interesting.
2. Playing much better at the end of the season (typically in an end-of-year rivalry game and then the bowl game) than they did over the first 10-11 games.
On the recruiting front, MaconDawg goes around the SEC to check the progress of our neighbors when it comes to signing the next OMG!1!! AWESOMES!!!1! player. The momentum he notes that Alabama has on the high school circuit vs. Auburn also gets mentioned from Finebaum.
Back to Dawg Coverage, David Ching has a Q&A with defensive line coach Rodney Garner (ht - Blutarsky).
Speaking of Senator Blutarsky, he gets all staty on us regarding third down conversions. Sunday Morning QB also chimes in on the topic.
