Dawgs on TV - Satellite Update

For those of you outside the state of Georgia who want to watch the Dawgs this weekend, ESPN Gameplan will carry the game. As the map above illustrates, if you're in Georgia, you should be able to order the game from your local cable company. For DirecTV subscribers, the game should be on channel 781. For Dish Network subscribers, I don't know what channel it is on because Dish Network's website is only showing channel lineups for last weekend.

Question: I am coming from Cobb Co., how has the traffic been on I-85/316 on gameday? Should I find a different route?

you have 2 options, 316 or 129. I would suggest for this game taking 316.

In my opinion the traffic is always worse for pre-1:00 games b/c the time window for arrival is so compressed.

Leave early regardless.

Thanks. We'll do.

As somebody that lives in Cobb and hasn't driven 316 in about 3 seasons, I strongly prefer 129. I live in Acworth and have gotten to Athens in just over 1.5 hrs each of the 1st two weeks. PWD's point about the early kickoff is valid, too.

So can you just buy the one UGA game if you live IN Georgia and have Directv?

No, you can't watch the game on Gameplan in GA.

129? Like go through Atlanta and take I85 north to 129? That's insane. I can see if you're up near Calhoun and want to take the real northern arc (53) to Gainesville and come in on 129 that way but you're going a LONG ways out of your way to take 129 from 85. Even heavy 316 traffic isn't worth that. If you want to avoid 316 entirely, take 211 to Atlanta Hwy. Then the only thing you have to worry about is the crap hole of a town I used to call home: Winder. If that train is running, you'll be stuck for about 5-10 minutes. Or you could get off on GA 20 and wrap around the back end of the mall to Gravel Springs Rd to Atlanta Hwy. That's the way I go sometimes when 316 is particularly heavy. Either is better than going all the way up to 129.

I wouldn't worry though. 316 will be heavy but probably still faster than your other options for this game, early kickoff and all.

Thats why I said for this game to take 316. 316 is always fastest for going TO Athens for me because I leave so early, but coming home you can get to the 316/85 intersect quicker by going 129. Northern Arc? Ok Rand McNally, but its only 13 more miles to take that route and much faster, trust me.

PWD - what the hell is this shit from anon 10:19?

David P,

I try and delete all that crap before as quickly as possible. But I was away from my computer until this morning.

I've addressed the problem of comment spam on this site before.

Apparently, there is some sort of whack job cult that spams lots of blogs with that same type of note.

The crazy thing...they're all like 80,000 words and I think they are all different (from skimming...not reading).

It is complete insanity.

If you see that sort of stuff, please email me at decaturdawg at hotmail

I'll try and clean it up as quickly as possible, but there's no way to stop that stuff from happening.

will do man - I didn't even think about emailing you, but will next time. Sorry your site got hijacked.
Love the blog, man - keep it up!
