Neil Callaway's Job Gets Easier at UAB

The NCAA released their APR report yesterday, and UAB football team came out as one of the biggest losers. The team lost nine (9) scholarships in football due to lack of academic progress by their student athletes.

That's bad news for UAB, but it's great news for Blazer Coach Neil Callaway. That's nine fewer pesky kids he has to sign up next year. 100 Cocktails to CNC for finding a way to reduce stress in his life.

That should save at least 2-3 young men's shoulders.

Is all of the pent up anger towards Callaway because of Inman?

Sure, fine, kick the Blazers when we're down. But you know you'll be rooting for us against South Carolina on September 27. If they can lose to Vanderbilt, they can lose to UAB.

Doug,

No they can't.

Ehh, you're right. I can't back that one up.

We're totally going to kick Alabama State's ass, though. Now there's a team with scholarship issues.

Realism be dammed! I'm still pulling for UAB to beat the shit out of the lamecocks. And, I ABSOLUTELY think its possible.

They shouldn't think of it as losing nine scholarships. It's more like they get to give nine lucky walk-ons a chance to be Rudy.

blawger,

I don't know if it's 'anger', but more than a few Dogs question Callaway's recruiting or lack there of and track record.

So will they crosstrain some WRs at right tackle?

jasonc - I just get defensive because I actually know Callaway to an extent. He's a family friend.

After seeing Callaway recruit firsthand, I can tell you that his recruiting tactics were awful. I still say the best thing to happen to UGA football recently was UAB firing their head coach 1 1/2 years ago. Original blawger, I don't know him personally. I'm sure he's fine as a person, so no offense.
