UGA on the Travel Channel Tonight

The Travel Channel has a new show called, "Lawrence of America." The University of Georgia campus, football team and cheerleaders will be featured tonight. The Travel Channel PR person said the show is quite funny. We'll see. I think it looks kinda hokey. But it's Dawg related, and they emailed me. So what the hell...I'll dvr it.

The show will air on Tuesday, June 17th at 11pm EST.

Lawrence will also be posting about the experience right after the show on his blog. Basically, the show looks like it's about a Brit experiencing American Culture. If they got Jeff from BBC's "Coupling" to do the tour, I think it would be infinitely better. Sadly, I'm guessing that none of my readers are going to get that comment.

The only problem with Jeff is he's got too many legs...

I imagine you might be suprised where some of your readers are currently living and what kind of media they enjoy...

My favorite Jeffism is the "Porn Buddy."

Porn buddies are very close friends who have promised each other that in the event of the other's sudden death, the survivor will rush over to the deceased's home and remove all of their pornography before parents or other loved ones can find it.

That's comedy gold.

Chris,

I actually wouldn't be shocked. I've gotten emails from Qatar, Korea, China and Germany among other sites.

But BBC Coupling is so obscure. Most folks haven't seen it. I'd say Coupling and 30 Rock are the two funniest sit coms that I've seen on TV in years.

The leg bit from Jeff.

The U.S. version of coupling made it all of ten episodes. Truly awful stuff featuring Lindsay Price aka the chick Steve impregnated on 90210.

Lawrence came to visit us at the UGA Visitors Center. He took an official tour and everything, so we'll see if any of that footage makes it. I can't vouch for any of the VC jokes being funny though...

PWD -

Is that Sonya Walger? Used to seeing her w/ blonde hair on Lost. She's smoking hot as a brunette.

Would completely agree 30 Rock and Coupling being amazing though I will admit that I didnt know of the BBC version till the travesty that was the American version was released.

I just wish that my brother would do a better job about sending me the second season of 30 Rock since I am over here in Namibia till December.

Chris,

All seasons of BBC coupling are on DVD. Great buy.

PWD,

You're about to get comments from Hong Kong. Wheels up tomorrow 7:33am.
But I don't watch TV overseas, I either don't understand it or it's soccer.

Get it? Hell, one of my favorite eps, "Lesbian Spank Inferno," is on right now.

Which team were we playing? They didn't really show a close up shot of their helmets? He learned not to mess with Uga though! Damn good Dawg!

Looked like Troy.

I vaguely remember being in Bolton and seeing some guy in a vest being followed around by cameras, so this explains that.

I'd love to know what Big Cheese thought being interviewed by this odd Englishman...

Coupling was absolutely hilarious, particularly Jeff. And, may I say for the record, Sarah Alexander (Susan) is drop dead gorgeous.

looked like Ole Miss to me... oh wait was that homecoming?

it was ole miss. the other uni's were blue helmets, white jerseys with red numbers, and grey pants.

It was Ole Miss, and I was there.

This show was redeemed only by Uga trying to eat the host. And the host was still a fan of Uga.

I was mildly curious as to how the show chose UGA. I figured at first that it was from our recent athletic successes that have kept our school in the national news fairly continuously since January. Then I recognized the game as last season's contest against Ole Miss.

Good to see UGA VI is as vicious as his predecessor towards unwanted interlopers.

If Jeff from Coupling hosted he probably would have told Miss UGA he kept women's ears in a bucket.
