UGA Students: Want to Work for ESPN?

I got an email today from ESPN. They are looking for a couple of UGA students to help with a project. See the info below.
Westerdawg,

My name is Ted Bauer. I’m an editor/producer with ESPN The Magazine.

We’re trying to launch a new idea for this season called “A Season In the Stands.” Basic execution: We send a camcorder to students at four schools. They record the season through the eyes of themselves, their friends, and their campus. We edit it together into a (theoretically) compelling TV/web show.

Obviously, we’d love to have Georgia as one of the 4 schools represented.

Here’s a link that explains everything.

Could you [let the UGA world know]. If you want, you can put my e-mail address (Edward.Bauer@espn3.com) in the post as a person to contact.

As a side note, here’s the SEC Conference page from our preview issue, if you want to spotlight that. Let me know if you have any questions about anything, and thank you for your (hopeful) help.

Respectfully,

Ted Bauer

If you're a UGA student / particularly J-School or Visual Arts, this seems like the type of opportunity you jump on.

"@espn3.com?"

Looks like we're well on our way to finally seeing ESPN "The Ocho."

I'm kidding of course. Man I wish I would've had that opportunity when I was at Grady. Of course, how you march Redcoats and hold a camcorder is beyond me.

That's awesome. I wish I was still in school. Hopefully someone will jump at this.

So when that UGA student burns an effigy of Kirk Herbstreit while blasting "It’s down to who the two best teams in the country are…forget about who’s played who…who in your mind are the top two teams right now in college football?" on loop, do think ESPN will cut the material?

What about when the UGA student accuses ESPN of being in the pocket of the Big 10 because of their ABC TV deal after Ohio State goes 1 loss into a national title game after beating a USC team with a gimped up QB is the high point of their season and some embarrassing loss is their low point? Is that going to stay?

Something tells me ESPN isn't going to select a UGA student as one of the four schools represented.

Maybe after this we'll be reconsidered for the moniker of "TitleTown". If nothing else, hopefully we'll be more "Now".

Pretty Cool that they contacted you "to get the word out".

Make that really cool.

For what it's worth, an invitation has been extended to a girl who works in my office and she is going to accept. The email she received mentioned that the project (filming) should only take a few hours of her week during the season and that she will not be asked to do anything in the stadium as broadcasting rights do not allow that.
