The ESPN College Gameday Crew has picked a location for its broadcast in Athens. They will set up at Myers Quad. I think it's the most logical location, and it's probably going to inconvience far fewer tailgates than North Campus.
There's a map of that part of campus above. Also, here's a google map.

I say put them on top of West Deck.
I agree with you Matt... Ive been tailgating there for years, and b/c these idiots decide thier going to come to town, I'm screwed.... UGAPD told me today on the phone that tailgating will be restricted there until 1pm....
I actually think that the quad is a great place as far as atmosphere goes. I mean all the students living in myers and the adjacent dorms can roll out of bed and make noise while corso puts on an uga head.
I have fond memories of that quad...should be fun!
South campus pales in comparison to north campus. This sucks. What happened to the "ESPN prefers to have the stadium in the background" concept?
Bunch of honors kids will be representing UGA. Not sure if that's good or bad.
Last time they were here they set up shop on top of Tate and let the fans gather on the bridge. I wonder if they considered that again.
"What happened to the "ESPN prefers to have the stadium in the background" concept?"
There's nowhere suitable for them to set up and still have the stadium in the background.
I think Meyers is a great alternate. So you can't tailgate there until 1. You still have at least 5 good hours of tailgating from then. This is good exposure for the program and will be even better with a win.
Though a stadium view is preferable for ESPN, it's not the first time there won't be one. Here is a shot from the 06 Clemson Gameday set up:

But...where will everyone play ultimate frisbee?
I mean, really, that's the question we all should be asking ourselves here.
steveodawg,
Their set up now is much larger than it was in '98. Even with the smaller set up in '98, they had to reinforce the ceilings in the Tate Center game room to support the weight.
yeah i agree. not so sure if having the a lot honors kids being out there is a good thing. not all of them are bad (in fact I have a good many friends from there) but there ARE a few odd ones in that bunch.
Gameday is definitely the talk of campus. Everyone seems to be hyped up to get down there and make funny signs.
BTW, on top of Tate? Are you serious? Have you actually WATCHED gameday before? Would they provide ladders for fans?
Watson,
Here is a pic from the '98 set up:

Only the ESPN crew was on the Tate roof. The fans were on the bridge.
The Bama folks are planning to wear all white to try and "take the wind out of our sails". Did they not see how that turned out for Hawaii?
The crew hated being on top of tate in 98. It was too hard to set it up up there and they were too far away from the fans. When they finish the tate expansion in the spring their will be an area for them to set up gameday there if they come back next season.
Who gives a rat's ass? You know that Saban-loving pair Corso and Herbie are going to pick Bama. We shoulda set them up in front of the dumpsters and port-a-johns amidst all the construction.
I already heard Herbie's comment regarding Bama on Sportscenter this afternoon. It's on, Dumbo!
what did he say andy?
He said this was a statement game for Bama, and just like LSU going in to Jordan-Hairyass last weekend, Bama has all the momentum for the big upset between the hedges.
What did he have to say about UGA? Mmm, nothing.
As I recall, those two (especially Corso) picking against us has worked out pretty well. I know every time Corso picks Georgia to beat Florida we lose.
So, I'm pretty ok with that.
After Herbie's comments during the ASU game, I think he's getting on the Bulldog bandwagon. As far as showing Georgia respect, he's far and away better than the rest of the clowns on tv. Besides, when the WWL is building up the game for tv, they want it to sound like there could be an upset. Do you really expect their advertisements to say "No point in watching this...Georgia's gonna blow them out"?
Redcrake, I am too. When I wash clothes this weekend, I'm using Tide, for only the losers do laundry duty.
"BTW, on top of Tate? Are you serious? Have you actually WATCHED gameday before?"
It's past your bedtime, junior.
As a guy who tailgates right off the quad, and has been in the same spot for the better part of a decade, I'm a little irritated - only because if we don't get our usual spot because some freshmen are there at 5 a.m., I'm going to freakin' lose it.
Wow, for being only 32, I sound damn near 70. But I will tell some young whippersnappers to get off my lawn.
I will be there at 5 am, but thats just to stand in line for gameday. My tailgate spot is over at the psychology building, so i wont take your spot josh.
"He said this was a statement game for Bama, and just like LSU going in to Jordan-Hairyass last weekend, Bama has all the momentum for the big upset between the hedges."
He is exactly right, so what is your point? Bama is a good team. Everyone expected them to be better this year and maybe compete for the SEC next year, but IF, they can win this year, it will be a statement that Saban has Bama ahead of schedule. I am not saying that will happen, but I definitely think this will be our toughest game yet.
Their defense is going to present a lot of problems for us. That 360+ lbs. DT will be hard to block- especially with a freshman Center.
Our DL seems to be getting better, but Bama has a solid OL. Yes, we have stopped the run thus far, but we haven't played a good running team yet and Bama is a good running team.
It will be a tough game. We definitely can win if we play to our ability, but don't count Bama out.
Finally, a lot of you bitch about how the media (WWL) treats us and then when they decide to give us some attention, you bitch about that because of the inconvenience. You can't have it both ways.
Seriously, we cant complain that gameday doenst like us, hasnt been since '98, etc. And then when they do come complain that "your" tailgating spot will be crowed. National exposure like this is good for the program. As Gob Bleuth would say, "Come on!"
jason @ 10:46....in case you haven't noticed, nearly every "comment" section on the internet, whether sports or news...it's nothing but bitching. Guess I'm getting old b/c it just makes me tired.
anon 11:14,
too true
hey PWD, post this up
Vote Knowshon Moreno for Heisman! ESPN.
Please accept my apologies for everything. I tend to get fired up when Herbie and Corso pick against us. I was feeling "Rah Rah Rah, Fight Fight Fight," but you're right, it's all about TV ratings, not who wins or loses. I guess I'll go pay my Comcast bill and be thankful I have a World Wide Leader, er, I mean "WWL."
For the record, I heart ESPN and tailgating both (I would never diss ESPN; I shelled out the bucks for the Gameplan package - bit pissed it didn't come with charcoal, but. . .). I was just trying to get the troops motivated (namely, me). It is going to be a tough game, of course it is, no point in arguing that. No one's going to see this, though, since it's like three posts or so old, but ROLL THE TIDE! And since no one's going to see this, I like little fuzzy ducks. They're cute, what's not to like?
