The Georgia Running Game

Matt Hinton (SundayMorningQB) now writes for Yahoo Sports, and he's taken the time to break down Georgia's running game NFL Match-Up Style. It's a good look at how UGA moves the ball, and how Bama will try to stop it.

I think Georgai has a great running game. In fact, Knowsohn Moreno is one of my favorite players!

Unknown said...

NICE. Can you believe that typo?

lol.

Unknown said...

wow....both of those typos were monsters. That's what I get for talking to my dad and typing at the same time.

Anonymous said...

You have to believe Bobo will run anything but these plays.

Anonymous said...

I agree - no way we run the same plays against Bama.

Crane said...

well... moreno has always done his bestwork on the edges... not pounding the rock on iso's up the middle. Considering the Saban defend the middle mentality plus mount cody I see lots of sweeps and off tackle runs.

I expect to see the dusting off of the half back option pass we used last year against auburn that got called back for the penalty. I mean how does the safety or even corner not come up if they see moreno on a sweep?

Very unlikely Bobo wanted to show all his cards a week before Bama.

When my sister was a child, her code word to Mom for her private part was "bama."

I think that this will be the last blackout, no?

Anonymous said...

wow. our defense is awesome.

Ginger said...

there is no excuse. we came out lousy.

simply lousy. and no this doesnt end sec championship run b/c florida lost and tennessee lost 2x so there is that.

that being said, right now it seems bleak to assume us running the table or doing much worth a shit.

too much hit or miss type plays, going down field, zone sloth, penalties...nervousness.

we should be bigger game tested than this, but again these are just kids. it happens.

Worse than WVU in the Sugar, worse than UT the past 2 years, possibly THE worst ever.

We are getting manhandled on both lines.

I wipe my ass w/ the black jerseys.

I have never been more disappointed in a team.

We are overrated.

I'm tired of saying wait til next year.

Fire Willie!

Anonymous said...

We look like we're playing an NFL team. Like the '85 Bears.

Anonymous said...

And we're the Bad News Bears.

Anonymous said...

There is nothing in life more tragic than wasted talent.

Maybe 24 & 7 will come back next year out of shame.

Its not 24's fault though.

LT and Adrian Peterson couldn't run behind this shit O-line.

KRIS Chamberlain said...

fire willy? are you serious, a 1 loss uga team can still go to the SEC Champ.. remember florida and tenn lost

Anonymous said...

If you look up shitting the bed on wikipedia...

Anonymous said...

kris,

w/ all due respect

a 1 loss ga team? Seriously?

if this team shows up at baton rogue, a mercy rule might go in to effect

Anonymous said...

i'm not happy w/ martinez

but,

bobo is in over his head

Anonymous said...

You've got to hand it to Neil Callaway for recruiting the stellar group of seniors we've got on our o-line.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Dink Nesmith was right after all

Anonymous said...

Over the next two weeks, there will be the inevitable calls to fire Willie, bench Tripp Chandler, and what the future holds this season.

Frankly, after tonight, I don't have the stomach for it. It was a piss poor game...there is nothing else to say about the situation.

I'm going to take a Bye week along with the Dawgs. I am swearing off College Football until Thursday, October 9th. See you guys then.

Unknown said...

Don't you, don't anyone knock these kids or this program. If you thought we were going undefeated, you're crazy. This sucks, sure, but we can still win the east.

Unknown said...

Not you redcrake, or anyone in particular - I was really referring to my Dad, but he doesn't even know what a blog is.

Anonymous said...

the whooping at the hands of the Vols last year was what turned around the season... lets hope the same happens after this game. I'm just looking for a silver lining.

Anonymous said...

I am looking forward to beating the tar out of those pachyderm punks in the Dome come December.
Remember how awful we felt after Tennessee and how far we came after that game, and think about how much better we are at this point, especially after that second half.
I think Saban and the Tide just awakened a monster.

Anonymous said...

It was like boys against men in the trenches - hopefully we get the chance to meet them again in Atlanta because they look a whole lot better then Auburn, LSU or TN...

Anonymous said...

Call a spade a spade. Tonights performance was a steaming pile of feces of the highest order.

People who try to find the bright side of something like this are retardedly optimistic.

Eric said...

Anon @9:16: You're being a baby. Either get behind those kids, or find another team. I really doubt you're hurting worse than any of our Dawgs tonight.

Anonymous said...

Keep your head up Dawgs.

This season is NOT over.

This is a GREAT team.

The defense got punched in the mouth in the first half. They did much better in the 3rd quarter. They'll only get better.

Alabama is a great team.

All we have to do is play tough the rest of the way. With Florida and UT both losing too, the East is wide open.

We just didn't have Ol Lady Luck on our side tonight.

Let's hope we get a crack at them again in December.

GO DAWGS! GATA!

Anonymous said...

GO DAWGS! For the rest of you negative nancy anons, I hear there's a Notre Dame bandwagon warming up just for you girls.

Yay for blind optimism!!!

Boo for rationalism!!!

In a game of boys that doesn't really affect whether I wake up tomorrow or not....I'll take optimism. Go Dawgs!

Anonymous said...

Optimism it is then.

One day Bobo will design schemes with enough variations so that play calls don't become ridiculously redundant.

Then Martinez will learn to make adjustments before halftime, and he will develop the intense and charismatic demeanor that will make him an emotional lightening rod for the team.

Then people on message boards will realize that you can criticize the war and still support the troops.

By then Obama will have become president and his magical hope and change powers will transform our country. We will be the one's we've been waiting for.

KRIS Chamberlain said...

Thank you Dawgs for not giving up!

I think this game really showed how good our fans and players are.. down 31-0, you saw no one leave the stadium.. and the players never gave up!

Hey, atleast Florida lost!

Eric said...

Realism minus three days: Wow, I sure hope there's a team out there...somewhere...who can play USC and won't embarrass themselves too bad in the MNC. I mean seriously, why do we even play this season while Pete Carrol is still alive? Gosh...can we just go ahead and give Mark Sanchez the Heisman, too?

Ginger said...

The fact is this, Georgia is a one loss team in the east along with Fla.

There is VANDY atop the east. VANDY.

If that doesn't give you confidence for the future or chances of us having a very real chance at taking the east and getting redemption and either a sugar bowl or national championship appearance nothing will.

Yes we played like piss in the first half, similar to the first half against WVU and UT a couple years ago. That is bound to happen, especially with 18-20 yr olds. When you win 10+ games in a row you are bound to have an off half. This off? That depends, but we were due. The fact is we still have the skill set to put a 30 spot on Bama in the 2nd half. We still have the talent to run off another 10 in a row. We still have the talent to be alright. The expectations will be less, the arrogance will be less, the worries about having to live up to having gameday around won't be a factor.

These are kids. They make mistakes. We are banged up. There is no excuses, we got outplayed, but I seriously like our chances against everyone and I think we have a real opportunity the rest of the way.

Hang in there REAL dawg fans...and those of you who are ready to jump off the wagon, good. We didn't need you when you jumped on the wagon. Fair weather fans you can go root for USC or whomever is the flavor of the week on Espn.

Poor preperation by Willie Martinez again. Penalties killed us again Richt and you say getting onto the players will take away the aggressiveness. Hah, Defense was flat whooped on the line, on the corners and the safety was out of position several times.Y ou were out coached and outplayed and the game was over at half-time.You better find a better way of motivating these Georgia players before games because the way i see it is you were embarrased on national T.V., infront of the fans, their parents, the alumni and didnt help with recruiting either. You lost more than just a game friends. The only exception to save this year would be to win the rest of your games and win the SEC Title game.Get a better Defensive Coordinator and teach tackling fundamentals and my god stop all those ridicolous penalties.Richt you have got get control of your players and discipline them.If it were me, i'd get different people to come in and give motivating speeches to the players before a game and start looking around for a new defensive coordinator and not let Mike Bobo call the offensive plays, he's gotta get lot more experience and work his way up because when he runs across great defensive coaches, he loses.I know you think i dont know anything but someday you'll get another coordinator and Bobo is just trying to build up his resume' for better things.I guess you and your staff are too educated to listen.

waaaaaaaaahhhhh waaaahhhhhhhhh

That was the most embarrassing half of football I've ever seen. period.

Ugag may be the most overrated team in the history of college football.

Y'all should disband then entire university and send half the team back to clarke county prison. the world would be a better place for it.

BEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Bama ain't WVU, we play great defense, against a prevent 4th quarter SOFT, EXTREMELY SOFT and careless defense Jawjuh scored garbage TD's...this was at best a 41-17 game with 1 of those TD's the "punt return" a block in the back fest on 3 Bama players, and escpecially one who got cleared out to the bench getting pushed in the back blatantly the entire way.

Keep up the intensity we Ole' Ball Coach Florida worse than he ever did, but no, we came out in the 2nd not giving a crap...anyway a dominant win in where the score in no way represented the way the game was played this was an epic beat down by about 30 points on Jawjuh's homefield in Blackout conditions against a very good team...Bama is capable of beating any and everyone.

Still can't grasp it.

I've had a lot of fun jabbing @ the Dawgs fans this week. This http://georgiasports.blogspot.com/ web page has been a lot of fun. I am overwhelmed with delight as I sit here watching the replay of the Alabama slaughter of the "mighty" Dawgs. My only regret was that Bama didn't outscore Georgia by 30+. I had the distinct "pleasure" of sitting next to some of the most ignorant, asinine, backwood's (aka Georgia) fans at the Arizona State game. The lowlight was the two hillbillies that insisted that Moreno be put back in to the ASU game with one minute left and the game clearly decided because he was "robbed" of a TD earlier and they needed to have as "big of a winning margin as possible to impress the national voters" (Note to all diehard Georgia fans that left the game before the final gun, Alabama took a knee for the final plays, the ultimate sign of victory over an opponent).

But do not lose sleep over this loss, as I am sure there are still more "public muggings" (ESPN quote) to come this season. Oh yeah....the blackout.....extremely appropriate for the pain and suffering your fans had to go thru. When is the next one??

Anonymous said...

some of you people are ridiculous.

we are a young team that has suffered a lot of key injuries this season. we have a brutal schedule. yesterday all of the little things that have plagued us in the first 4 games game together at exactly the wrong times, and parker-wilson had the first half of his career.

the bye week couldn't come at a better time - no laurels to rest on, our boys have a chance to look in the mirror and get their shit together.

but its embarrassing to see all these so-called fans ready to throw in the towel. check the calendar, its september. we have a long way to go. GATA dawgs!

Anonymous said...

Noshow Moreno!!! Blackout, ha!, more like "Lights out for Georgia"!!! Roll Tide!

Anonymous said...

Typical CWM first half defensive performance. I've have often wondered why other teams haven't tried to do what David Cutcliffe did at Tennessee against us.

We play a soft zone and if a team can pass just a little, they can stomp us in the first half. Tulane did a better job of defending the pass than we did. As long as we have CWM we should just prepare for one or two of these type of game a season. His scheme sucks.

Good job by the Alabama coaches to recognize the weakness, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the Tide last night. This was a Georgia meltdown.

It's just one game. Maybe the flight band and forth to Arizona left the players a bit flat.

Anonymous said...

Ugh...would the fair-weather fans please exit stage left? The Dawgs still have PLENTY of play left in this season! Let's also look at it this way folks: I haven't seen anybody point out the fact that we were the only "upset" that came against a ranked team (read: a worth opponent!). As a matter of fact, nobody else's upset came against teams that even got votes in last week's Coaches Poll except Clemson (Maryland had 6 votes in last week's poll). That's GOT to count for something in Georgia's favor going into the voting for this week's poll. I could give two craps about the haters that say we're overrated; I actually saw the 3rd quarter, didn't you? We have an awesome team...but handed over those 11 points in penalties and THAT, my friends, is our true embarrassment. We get over that problem, we can salvage the rest of this season. It's as simple as that.
