I haven't bitched about the polls much this year, but it doesn't make sense to me that Ok State's win versus an unranked Baylor team is more impressive than our win over a Top 25 Vanderbilt team. At least not impressive enough for them to jump us in the Coaches Poll. Whatever. We're only 16 votes back from Ok State in the Coaches. So, it'll sort itself out if we keep winning.
I'm guessing that they Harris Poll will be released when the BCS Standings are announce around 4-4:30(ish) on Fox today. (Update: Harris has us at 9th)
Teams of note on our schedule:
Team | AP Poll | USAToday Poll |
Alabama | 2 | 2 |
Florida | 5 | 7 |
LSU | 11 | 11 |
Georgia Tech | 21 | 21 |
Others Receiving Votes | ||
Vanderbilt | 28 | 32 |
Kentucky | 30 | 33 |
Other Items of Note:
- Georgia Tech cracked the Top 25 with a strong showing against Clemson.
- Six teams jumped into the realm of the ranked in each polls. Northwestern and Boston College each made one but not the other poll.
- Ball State is now up to 20th in one poll and 22nd in the other poll. Are you seriously telling me that the pollsters think Ball State would beat teams like Michigan State, Virginia Tech and UNC? Get real.
- The ACC's highest rated team is Georgia Tech at 21st. Utah, Boise State, TCU, BYU and Ball State are all rated higher than the ACC's "best" team in the AP Top 25. "You might be a crappy conference if..."
