The Bright Side

Looking at the schedules for today and the next few weeks, the ray of light at the end of the tunnel becomes more vivid. We have to get our act together and get healthy, but the world around us in the polls is definitely going to look at lot different over the next three weeks.

As you already know, South Florida lost on Thursday. They were co-#10 in one poll with us and one higher than us in the other.

Also, the #1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 ranked teams have road games against mostly decent teams today. I expect at least one of them to lose. That would likely put us at #9 going into the Tennessee game.

While we're playing UT next week the following games will be going on:
#1 OU vs. #5 Texas in Dallas
    #3 LSU at #12 UF
#4 Missouri hosts #21 Oklahoma State
#6 Penn State at #17 Wisconsin (night game in Madison)
    #7 Texas Tech host Nebraska
Obviously, at least 1 more team ranked above us will lose and possibly two teams. That means we should be #7 or 8 when we play Vandy if we take care of business against the Vols.

While we're playing Vandy the rest of the top ten is highlighted by
    #8 BYU travels to TCU
#4 Missouri goes to #5 Texas
    #1 Oklahoma hosts #16 Kansas
    #6 Penn State hosts Michigan
If we protect our home field and catch a little luck, and we could be #5 or #6 when we roll into the Bayou against the Tigers.

Obviously, the first step is taking care of our own affairs, but the teams around us are going to start beating the hell out of each other starting in just a few hours.

PS -- Roll Tide this weekend. We can't have Bama slipping up and losing against sub-par competition just yet. That will reflect negatively on us at this point and prohibit our ability to move up in the polls as there's no way they're falling below us for several more weeks.
