The Bright Side

Looking at the schedules for today and the next few weeks, the ray of light at the end of the tunnel becomes more vivid. We have to get our act together and get healthy, but the world around us in the polls is definitely going to look at lot different over the next three weeks.

(Image: Thank heavens for bye weeks)

As you already know, South Florida lost on Thursday. They were co-#10 in one poll with us and one higher than us in the other.

Also, the #1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 ranked teams have road games against mostly decent teams today. I expect at least one of them to lose. That would likely put us at #9 going into the Tennessee game.

While we're playing UT next week the following games will be going on:
#1 OU vs. #5 Texas in Dallas
    #3 LSU at #12 UF
#4 Missouri hosts #21 Oklahoma State
#6 Penn State at #17 Wisconsin (night game in Madison)
    #7 Texas Tech host Nebraska
Obviously, at least 1 more team ranked above us will lose and possibly two teams. That means we should be #7 or 8 when we play Vandy if we take care of business against the Vols.

While we're playing Vandy the rest of the top ten is highlighted by
    #8 BYU travels to TCU
#4 Missouri goes to #5 Texas
    #1 Oklahoma hosts #16 Kansas
    #6 Penn State hosts Michigan
If we protect our home field and catch a little luck, and we could be #5 or #6 when we roll into the Bayou against the Tigers.

Obviously, the first step is taking care of our own affairs, but the teams around us are going to start beating the hell out of each other starting in just a few hours.

PWD

PS -- Roll Tide this weekend. We can't have Bama slipping up and losing against sub-par competition just yet. That will reflect negatively on us at this point and prohibit our ability to move up in the polls as there's no way they're falling below us for several more weeks.

Great post. Now that I have partially recovered from last week, I like having a plan for us to regain our footing. One game at a time... We looked worse at UT last year....

From here on out, I'm cheering for Chaos and the Dawgs!

I don't even think we need to look at stuff like this. Only after we had lost twice last year did we need to start scoreboard watching.

Its dangerous to start doing this so early. Its simple: If we win out, we go to the national championship.

Only a bizarre scenario like an undefeated big 12 team vs. penn state in the national championship could keep a 1-loss SEC team out of the NC game.

Worry about the task at hand each week and we will be fine. The talent is there and the sky is not falling (although i felt differently at 11:30 on Sat night). Go Dawgs!

Actually, as it pertains to Bama, it would be ideal for them to win out. The best case scenario for GA is to re-match them in Atlanta for the SECC with Bama at 12-0 and ranked 1 or 2 (at worst). Is that likely to happen? No, it almost a certainty that it won't happen, but for our sake it would be the ideal. Should GA win out, they would roll into Atlanta ranked in the top 5, perhaps sitting at #3. So, until there is a second shot at them in ATL, it is RTR for the remainder of the regular season.

On the other hand, Paul, we can well be jumped by a couple of teams on this bye Saturday, compliments of the humans.

As much as I hate to admit it, uga hasn't really been very impressive this season. We haven't actually done much at all.

Now, the injuries are taking a huge toll, and I know we have the talent to make this a great season, but from now on, at least for my sanity, I'm only thinking one game at a time...

Well, Bama isn't making us look any better right now.

Forget Roll Tide. Go Wildcats! It has a difficult situation. On one hand I never want Alabama to score another point. On the other hand, I wish them well so we can crush their face in the Dome come Decemeber!

Does anyone know where you can get free college football on the internet? My Dish is out and can watch any games. Any help would be greatly appreciated. GO DAWGS.

Hey Dogs, excuse me, Dawgs, look who is in the lead in the SEC east.....VANDY, one of your so called "sub-par competition" teams.
So keep dreaming about going to a National Championship because thats all it will be is a dream as "the geeks will inherit the turf"
GO COMMODORES!!!!!

So, getting back to the subject of the Vandy kickoff time that you brought up, what do we think now? I'm guessing CBS will take a 6-day option on that weekend. They'll be choosing between:

LSU @ South Carolina:
LSU will be on CBS next weekend (vs. UF) and the weekend after this (vs. UGA). The game might be interesting, but it doesn't look like there are really any divisional championship implications there.

Ole Miss @ Alabama:
Bama was just on CBS but won't be again until 11/8 when they play LSU. CBS might take this game just because they want to have Bama on some more. Ole Miss doesn't bring as much draw since losing to USC today.

Vandy @ Georgia:
Legitimate (at least for now) SEC East implications. CBS might want to play up the Vandy story while they have a chance. On the other hand, Georgia will be on CBS next weekend (UT), the weekend after (@LSU) and the weekend after that (UF), along with likely Auburn and Georgia Tech in November.

I'm guessing CBS goes with Bama/Ole Miss, ESPN takes UGA/Vandy and LSU/SC gets dropped to Raycom.

Vandyalum,
Congrats on your win over Auburn! But I don't think you are going to find a lot of hate from Dawg fans on here for your program since that seems to be what you are looking for. We are very happy for your success this year but you have already beat us your one time this decade so don't come into Athens thinking your Cinderella story will stay afloat.

Well, fans like Vandyalum obviously show Vandy has zero clue how to handle the spotlight. Good job, you have beaten a subpar Auburn team, who put more points up on you than against MSU. Congrats on being in 1st place not even at the half way point of the season. Congrats on, for what will most likely be a week or so, being in first place in a division where you haven't even played the good teams yet. Keep it up though, I'm sure jackasses like you are the reason Vandy will continue to be a classless act through the years.

Hey Trey, Get a life.

I have no beef with Vandy. Go Dores! Except when you're playing us of course.

Hey Andy, you da man.

I think the rapture is officially happening soon. Vanderbilt is undefeated at 5-0 and leading the SEC East. Let me repeat for clarity: The current leaders of the SEC East shall be hosted in Athens for homecoming in two weeks. Seriously folks, the apocalypse has to be soon.

Georgia fans are delusional...do you really think you match up well with LSU or Florida...look player to player...not even close....but keep drinking the wine, your coach is no match for Myers or Myles, but he'll bring cheese to the games when the Dawgs are eaten by the tigers and gators...yep cheese, wine and kool-aid...get real you'll be lucky to beat EAST leading Vandy....

Anonymous said...

Hey cf, forget Andy, you are now da man!! Trey, you still need to get a life!!

I'm with auditdawg - surely the rapture is upon us. I spent almost $200 at the likka sto this weekend to prepare for what lies ahead...
