Georgia vs. Vanderbilt Kickoff Time?

CBS is almost definitely going to wait til next Sunday or Monday to announce their selections for Oct. 18th. I'm currently of the opinion that CBS will select Georgia vs. Vanderbilt for the 3:30 pm telecast assuming at least one of us wins this Saturday (UT at UGA / Vandy at Miss State).

My reasons:
  • Vandy Curiosity Factor - The ESPN family of networks has televised three of Vanderbilt's five wins. CBS hasn't gotten in on that action yet. When was the last time CBS televised a Vanderbilt win? Did they show the victory over UT in 2005? They're going to want to get in on this story. Soon.

  • 2nd Biggest Game of the Week? - If UGA and Vanderbilt both win on Sat, our match-up will feature roughly #8 vs. #13 or so. That'll be one of the three biggest games of the day behind Missouri at Texas but comparable to Kansas at Oklahoma.
Even if UGA loses and Vandy wins, it would still be one of the top three games of the week.

The best way for us not to end up on CBS would be for Georgia to lose to UT and for Vanderbilt to fall in Starkville. That might land us on Raycom.

With as bad as Tennessee has looked this year, I hope we beat the hell out of them. I really hope they don't get things figured out by next week, because beating down on the Vols, we feel very good.
Also, could we play Auburn before they get their sh_t together?

Those were the offensive outputs of AU and Tenn against NIU and Vandy.

UT's poor play against NIU will do nothing but make our game next Saturday even harder.

We HAVE to come out and deliver a decisive victoty or watch the pundits and nay-sayers have a field day.

Is it even possible to think that we'll be an underdog to Vandy....at home?

Go Dawgs!!

let's beat UT first and then worry about Vandy

so the same alabama that put 31 points on us in a half, beats kentucky a resounding 17-14?

thats not encouraging. tennessee again looked like crap. If we can't completely dominate them, we don't deserve to be considered a top team this year.

and the strangest part is vandy...i'd bet that when the polls come out tonight we are only one or two spots higher than them. strange times.

When will people realize that comparative scores are USELESS...

Bama beating Ky by 3 means NOTHING to UGA.

Vandy has a good shot to win the east. The more that auburn game went on the more this vandy team reminded me of the wake forest team that won the ACC a couple years ago. They play good defense and they know how to win. I could easily see this vandy team going 6-2 in the SEC.

Mitch, I don't know where your alliance lies but you are one of the few bloggers whom I've read that has anything intelligent to say.
Unlike jasonc: "because beating down on the Vols, we feel very good"??? Not to mention his choice of #*%@ words.
Oh yeah and like c. paul, I did'nt know that YOU were dressing out for the Bulldogs and were on the roster: "WE have to come out and deliver a decisve victoty"??? Just what is a victoty?

I am a very objective dawg fan. Never would want to be a fan of any other team but i will give credit where credit is due.

If CBS passes on UGA v. VU, would the fact that it’s homecoming cause the administration to prevent ESPN from making it a late evening/night game? In which case, relegating the game to Raycom/Lincoln Financial.

Deputydawg-

I'm sorry my lack of spell check and use of capital letters disturbed you so much. You are correct, I'm not suiting up next week - my eligibility ran out a while ago (I also didn't capitalize the "We" as you said but the HAVE in my sentence but think your point is still valid).

As well, I'm not exactly sure what a "victoty" is - but I still believe we need one next week when we play the Vols.

My only solace will have to be that I include you in your own assessment of "lack of intelligent bloggers" out there.

Go Dawgs!

So if CBS picks the Vandy game, does that mean that we will be on CBS for a month?

UT - CBS
Vandy-awaiting
LSU-CBS
UF - CBS

Uncle Vern and Gary D. are really gonna be familiar with us.

I am all about the WE and the US when referring to UGA football. Even though one does not physically play football, it is not uncommon for an individual to associate with one's school in the first person. I went to UGA for seven years (grad school too). While I do not play (or have ever played) football for the Dawgs, I certainly consider the football team, as well as any other university team or program, as WE or US. Heck, my taxes, past tuition, etc. is PAYING or PAID for that football team. Just like an owner of a football franchise, I certainly have the right consider my alma mater's team as my team. When we win, I'm elated; when we lose, I'm dejected. It bothers me when folks say "they lost" or other similar comments. As such, we certainly do need a victory on Saturday.
