SEC Power Poll Ballot

1. Florida - In what will be viewed as a dominating performance, the Gators set up a mildly surprising SEC Championship game with Bama.  Urban made sure to twist the knife by spending all timeouts and letting Tebow prance around as long as possible.
2. Alabama -Bama moves down only because UF beat UGA, Bama's only legit win, just as bad if not worse than the Tide.  Plus, UF let the hammer down and didn't let UGA sniff a comeback.
3. Georgia -The Dawgs are still a good team, but just not a championship contender.  Everything went wrong for the Dawgs against the Gators, but Georgia should finish with ten wins again.
4. LSU -Let the orgy of hate officially begin.  The Tigers haven't been overly impressive this year, but a win against Bama would soothe a disappointed fanbase who wants to watch Saban devoured by rabid nutria.
5. South Carolina - Carolina is solid.  Nothing spectacular, but they are a good football team now that they have figured out an identity and let Garcia take the reigns.  Despite a likely loss to the Gators, the Cocks still look like they are headed to a decent bowl game, a rarity for Carolina.
6. Ole Miss -The Rebs did what they needed to do to get bowl eligible.
7. Kentucky - Got a huge win on the road, even if it was in Starkville.
8. Vanderbilt- Vandy's goodwill built up after five wins is in danger of being completely erased if they finish the year without another victory. They must get a win against UT.
9. Arkansas - I owe the Hawgs an apology.  After losing to Bama, I said they wouldn't win again.  They've proved me wrong twice now.
10. Mississippi State  - State can still hope for an Egg Bowl victory, but even that won't get them out of Starkville after the regular season is over.  They had to have a win Saturday to go bowling and couldn't come through.
11. Tennessee - In Knoxville, only the off field dramatics remain interesting.
12. Auburn - Got a huge break at the start of the second half, but still couldn't get a win.  The Aubs remain mildly dangerous, but the offense is completely one dimensional.  Beating UGA or Bama would salvage a scrap of hope for next year, but either upset looks unlikely.

Has anyone else seen Urban Meyer in HD?

He's got a major Edward James Olmos/ Manual Noriega thing going on.

so alabama has beaten 2 top 10 teams on the road and beaten arkansas by 35 and tennessee by 20 on the road and you think florida is a better team simply because they beat the hell out of uga? hello, alabama is still undefeated and florida is not. by the way we beat ole miss. i think alabama should still be number one until they lose and florida should be two until we know the outcome of the SEC Championship.

Man the SEC blows if UGA is the third best team

Wow, I just do not understand how anyone can consider UF's win over UGA better than Bama's.

Bama fla-out physically manhandled us, at home, with the most geeked-up crowd in Sanford history.

UF scored a lot of points, but that was UGA's game to lose at halftime, which of course, we did.
Obviously the game got out of hand in the 2nd half, but there was never that sense of getting manhandled like what Bama did.

Should definitely be an interesting contrast of styles in the dome. It will also be the first matchup of Saban vs. Meyer.

Not that Quinton needs defending, but...

This is a power poll. The definition of a power poll is who is playing the best right now, regardless of record. Florida is averaging a 40+ ppg margin of victory against its last four SEC opponents, including LSU and Georgia. That surpasses what Alabama has done the last four weeks... doesn't it?

I'm about sick of hearing about Tebow. I'll be happy when he graduates and is drafted into the NFL, never to be heard from again.

I don't know how anyone from UGA can rank UF ahead of Bama. Bama just straight up worked us, up and down the field. Our UF game was a case of us playing not to lose the entire time. Bama lined up and knocked us in the mouth. UF lined up played football waiting for us to help them out as often as we could.....and lord, did we.

To everyone doubting this poll, do you seriously think Bama can beat UF on a neutral field? Cause I don't. Go Dawgs

I don't believe Florida will run away with the game. Actually, that will be a very good game to watch because both teams play a different style of ball and are playing that style at a high level. Alabama, though they've played inconsistent at times, is a disciplined team that hasn't made the mistakes in regards to turnovers and penalties that we have. If you notice, that's what UF thrives on--their TO margin is ridiculous.

Just like anon @ 10:20 said, you put a physical team out there against UF that doesn't make mistakes, and you'll get a whale of a ballgame that I see the physical team coming out on top.

Truth be told, on the whole, we were able to contain the "speed" of UF's running backs quite well. We just made way too many mistakes. UF just took advantage of EVERY SINGLE mistake we made and short field we gave them, which is definitely the sign of a great team. We never saw Rainey or Demps bust a big one, we just saw a complete breakdown of coverage or assignments on a few plays.

I just question where they (UF) would be against a relatively mistake free team like Bama. Sure they're boring at times, but they sure as hell aren't going to "help" the other team win.

Clarification...UF taking advantage of mistakes and short fields is "A" characteristic of a great team. Not the be all, end all. Bama took advantage of our mistakes, too. They just also punched us in the mouth on the LOS's.

Once you get past Bama and florida this could be a bad bowl season for the SEC.

I think you are right on. After the Citrus, it'll be ugly.
