Javon Ringer wants "perfect game" against UGA

Michigan State running back Javon Ringer told the Associated Press that he wants a perfect game against the Georgia Bulldogs. In his mind, that means 25 carries, 200 yards, 3 touchdowns and a pony. Ok, I added the pony, but it was obviously implied.

Well...at least he got the defense's attention. Too bad, he didn't say "expects" a perfect game.

I hope the D shows up pissed and ready to wrap up on January 1st. If not, go ahead and activate Ringer on your fantasy football roster.

Sounds like a selfless fellow.

I'm sitting here watching the Ncaa awards and watching Tim Tebow talk about the award he has just received. This kid is just amazing in what he stands for: the love for his team, desire of how he plays, and how he conducts himself in public. I'm not shooting Stafford down, but I miss that local talent that has the "it" factor when you think about a college QB. Stafford has never been the media guy, and I think that has hurt him. With Murray coming to Athens, maybe Zach Mettenberger might be a good fit. I hate taking shots at our guys, but in the near future I want a QB that makes UGA like the Greene and Shockley of the past. Stafford has let it been know that UGA was a launching point for him the get to the NFL. I have heard things that make me think Stafford is only looking to the NFL, and I want a guy who wants to make UGA better! Am I wrong on this? Please let me know!

I don't care if Tebow's the messiah, you'll never catch me pulling for the kid. There's always an excuse when something doesn't go his way, and he shows how truly classy he is when he Gator Chomps during timeouts in a blowout in the endzone by himself. Also, if ESPN force-feeds me anymore of that scholar-athlete tripe, I'll choke. Here's a man who by all rights, in his own words, puts God, Family, Education and THEN football in that order. How come Mr. Rolle was the only Rhodes scholar coming from Florida universities, then? You'd think if Education comes before football for a Junior who's angling for a 2nd Heisman, the kid must be a freakin' genius. Word out of Gainesville does not match that claim, for sure.

I think Richt has a better idea of what Stafford wants than you do and Richt seems to be doing an awful lot to let MS know that we want him to stay. I never heard any of this campaigning for the past juniors looking to enter the drafts. I mean I hate to tell you but most of the truly talented guys are guys whose goal it is to be in the NFL but they are goal oriented and making their present school a champion is a goal. Stafford wants to win championships and he was even on record saying he hates losing the last game of the year, if he comes back and turns down the money for another shot to win it all with his friends and teamates I think that speaks volumes. I also believe though..that the reason Tebow is a mediu guy is that he wins like everything, Matt hasn't won anything, so he's never put in that public spotlight

ringer might have those stats... but that will be MSU's total offense. He'll do all that on 45 carries

Ringer must have seen some game film of the Tech game.

"I have heard things that make me think Stafford is only looking to the NFL, and I want a guy who wants to make UGA better!"

These are not mutually exclusive in the least.

Questions concerning Stafford's drive are ridiculous. And FWIW, David Pollack didn't play kissy-face with the media, either. Should we question his love of the school? That the road you wanna go down?

Just a hint: Tebow isn't focused on the NFL because Tebow will suck in the League. That is, unless he can magically learn how to audible well or take snaps under center. And stop the crying.

I'm with you blackertai. It's hard for me to pull for Tebow in anything, and that is exclusive of the fact of the school he plays for. The media hype on him is just sickening--it's as if he's the only person on his team, or he's the only college football player with 'faith' (and I'm not knocking faith here)...and there's something about the way he comes across that I just don't vibe with--again, exclusive of the school he plays for.

The thing that pisses me off about Tebow is that if was sooooo Christian as he claims to be, he wouldn't need to put it all over the media. You don't need to sit there and brag about how great of a person you are. That totally takes away from it. I mean, I felt like I was at church last night watching him win all his awards. Stafford just isn't the type to be a media darling and that shouldn't be held against him. He's not that kind of person, and frankly, I respect him for it. He's here to play football, not to preach his beliefs to other people and have the media be in love with him. I think Tebow is a great athlete and a great person, but you really can't compare him and Stafford. I would be very surprised if Stafford was just using UGA to get to the NFL. He's a good guy, even if doesn't put it on blast.

Tebow : Florida :: Pollack : Georgia

I don't see the point in getting worked up about Tebow. He is a great football player and competitor. He goes to a school that gets more than it's fair share of attention. And, like our head coach, he gets a lot of questions about his faith and he answers them honestly. I think it's kinda of stupid to focus on it so much, but then I'm not doing the focus groups and market testing in Bristol to tell me what most people in America want to know about CFB. Just my 2 cents on Tebow.

On Ringer: he doesn't play in a gimmicky - and I say that with respect for those of you lurking from North Avenue - and highly effective - see? - rushing offense. He plays in an offense that looks suspiciously like what we run. Only it's all Knowshon and no Stafford, Massaquoi and/or Green. He's going to need more than 21 points to beat Georgia.

FWIW, Coach Richt was interviewed on 960 The Ref (Athens) this morning and it's podcast at their web page. He talked about awards ceremonies, preparing for Michigan State, the defense and special teams. It was worth a listen and makes me feel better about being 9-3.

Get off of Matthew Stafford's back. He's one of the most talented quarterbacks to ever where red and black. And I seriously, seriously doubt that anyone on here knows what goes through his mind on a daily basis. And don't give me this shit about his lack of leadership, etc. because you "don't see it" from your couch in Snellville or your ticket in 323. Unless you are a coach or a teammate, you realistically have no clue what kind of leadership he brings. I mean really? Just because he doesn't jump around and scream at his teammates so that Gary Danielson drools all over him doesn't mean he's not a leader.

The same goes for Knowshon as well. That there are "fans" who want to dog MS and KM just kills me. KILLS ME. It would be like a Tennessee fan going on and on about how Peyton never beat UF and stating that PM was never true to UT because he failed to do something. It's stupid. And we would rightfully ridicule that UT fan for his idiotic point of view.

There. Continue bitching about Tim Tebow.

Tebow doesn't brag about himself, he is in the media so much(at no fault of his)it just seems that he is always spouting his faith. Had you rather him be in the spotlight for shooting AK-47s in the air or hanging out downtown and getting DUIs. How bout using a dead girls credit card?

Tebow is a once in a lifetime talent and I despise Florida, but I am a football fan and can recognize what I have been witnessing from him. One of the best on and off the field leaders I have ever seen. The media shoves him down our throats and the fact that he is a Christian makes that unusal in that the media usually shies away from that. See Mark Richt.

On Ringer, would you really expect anything else from a RB against our defense.

Yet Tebow is completely brain-dead robot.

By the way, to the guy who posted way up above about wanting Stafford to be a media sweetheart and so on...

Did you ever think that maybe it's just because the media loves Tebow and UF, plus the fact that they are in the national championship game? Stafford is always a great speaker and a very humble guy in interviews, same with Knowshon, but you rarely see them on TV. It isn't their fault.

I think Stafford is a really smart and humble person for where he is and where he will go someday. I also respect the fact that he doesn't seek out attention so much and he tries to give as much credit as possible to everyone else.

I see him on campus all the time, and a lot of times he's walking by himself quietly, just doing his work. Just like a lot of normal college students. He seems very humble and focused.

And to sum this up: Stafford, if you're reading this, please come back one more year. Thank you.
