Kris Durham vs. GSU (Image: Hipple)
The good news for Durham is that he still has a redshirt season available to him. The bad news is obviously the need for surgery. David Hale has the details.
On the other side of the ball, Hale talks about our DBs making progress with fewer dropped interceptions.

If Michael Moore progresses this season the way he did last year, we won't skip a beat.
GATA Kris!
Meh, Durham never really impressed me anyway. He was the kind of guy who would have one good game but go the rest of the season without doing anything meaningful. Sucks for depth though, and getting these injuries after last year is a pain in the arse in general.
Jason Smith will be heartbroken.
I think it improves our depth in a weird way... maybe we won't be throwing bubble screens to a 6'5" white dude with no shake. Hopefully those passes go to a healthy Tony Wilson, Troupe, King, or even Rantavious.
I hate it for Kris but o well, we'll live.
No worries. Just gets Brown on the field earlier.
Kris Durham never dropped the ball when it was thrown his way and always seemed to come up with a big catch.
With that said, he wasn't used for whatever reason so this is not that big of a hit.
Like bdawg, I agree that Durham was a reliable receiver. I don't think he saw a lot of action early, because we had some upperclassmen and Durham came in so skinny, blocking and getting off jams was an issue. As he has gotten older, he has improved on those skills, but then he had some injuries (ankle?) that have really kept him from reaching his potential. I think he can be a Doering-type player for us.
Listen to you guys shrugging off losing a player for a season. I'll bet you guys shrugged off the first OT we lost last year.
Kris just put in a sheetload of work and now he'll be standing on the sidelines for a year. Then in 2010 (AJ will be gone)he'll be a Senior and running routes for QB's who don't even know him. I hope he gets an MBA with the extra year. The job market is still gonna suck a year from now.
Show a little compassion for a team player.

Why would AJ be gone in 2010? He'll be a true Junior.
You guys that don't see Durham drop balls must be taking a few plays off.
Anon@12:02 -
AJ can't declare eligible until after his 3rd year of eligibility, so he won't be able to declare until after the 2010 season.
Nobody is being hard on Durham, but the facts are facts. He was never a standout WR, and likely wasn't going to be. He has average hands and gets pushed around a lot at the LOS because he isn't very physical. The incoming WR's have more upside than him. That's not to say the loss doesn't hurt, it does a little just because of depth, but I highly doubt Durham would have been much of a contributor.
KD may not have the talent of other guys but he probably drops fewer balls than guys better than the more talented guys we'd had....which isn't saying a lot.
"Hopefully those passes go to a healthy Tony Wilson,"
So, instead of throwing screens to a fearless deceptivily fast white guy, you would rather throw them to a fat, slow black dude who should be playing fullback?
I am confused...
Does anyone know if the G-day game will be broadcast on the radio? If so, will it be broadcast in the Valdosta/Tifton area?
You guys that don't see Durham drop balls must be taking a few plays off.
Seriously.
Taking plays off and mailing it in with a white WR cliche. Durham has had several drops (SC '08 in the end zone, anyone?) despite seeing a limited number of passes the last few years.
Sucks for Durham, and this isn't good news... but this isn't a huge loss.
fearless deceptivily fast white guy
How is it that Durham is deceptively fast?
I guess Tony Wilson, being black, is deceptively slow.
Get well soon, Kris.
Talk about kicking a man when he's down. Kris has been up and down during his years at Georgia but he's improved each year and has had some big catches for us. He's a good guy who has made the program proud. Get well soon, Kris.
Durham will be missed but I never really understood when people said they expected him to be the strong #2 this year
I just don't see it. Solid hands but nowhere near the speed or moves to seperate against upper-level teams
Durham is faster in the 100 than in the 40 cause he's 6-6 or whatever. So yes, he is faster than he looks but has proven he's too tall and lanky to shake and bake. I guarantee you he's difficult to catch from behind once those long legs get going.
He's a good all-around receiver that would have made some important catches for us this year and now he's gone. We'll have someone step in for him so the level of production may not drop off but I think Durham was set to have his best year.
I think all the "we won't miss him anyway" comments after his injury are tacky.
Uncool.
Get well..you'll be back...GATA
Still think we won't miss him after the drops in the spring game?
