There are worse things for recruiting than having your starting quarterback become the #1 pick of the NFL Draft. Personally, I'm hoping they use their 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks on offensive linemen. It's extremely hard to be a good quarterback when you're in the hospital. Here's the reaction to Stafford's deal from around the country:
- -- Stafford to be new Lions QB - AJC
-- Lions show how much they value Stafford - Detroit Free Press
-- No room for debate - MLive
-- Pressure will be intense - NFL Blogs
-- Here comes the losing - AP
-- 5 things I think - Peter King

Carter is def an idiot, he's a poor man's Michael Irvin and I hate Michael Irvin. On the other hand, I love Trent Dilfer's analysis on the game. I think he's great for this show.
I hope Stafford pans out well for the Lions, he has a lot of pressure on him and I agree that with a good line, he could be special. We'll see him throwing to Calvin Johnson 3 years too late but he'll be fine. Not sure Culpepper is the best role model, but at least he's tasted success so hopefully MS will learn under his tutelage.
But a Damn Good Dawg going number one in the draft, that's something special, good luck Matt.
Knowshon to Denver. I might have to go to a few games!
I just want people at ESPN to admit that they aren't sure whether their OPINION will be right or not
I love hearing them go after teams about picks by acting like the team is run by idiots and that their pick was NOT RIGHT. How the hell would these ESPN guys know?
They say every year that this player isnt good or worth the pick yet every year players show that they were worth the pick
Or the other way where can't miss players flop
PWD-
Why don't you see the benefits of having Stafford hold a clipboard? I don't see the benefit of throwing him to the wolves in week 1.
Diamond Dawgs dropped a good one against Ole Miss. Series 1-1
Mo Mass to Cleveland. Good for him to make the show, but having to play against the steelers and the ravens 4 games a year is going to have to suck.
Have the Lions ever had a winning season?
