Dawgs drop 1st game to LSU. Links to 2nd game

I'm not going to do a recap of the 16-0 loss because I'm listening to the second game. Short answer...it was a fiasco.

The second game is not being televised tonight. It's on SECSports.com; however, they are having all sorts of technical problems. Here are the links to the audio and stats. Here's the link to the video.

UPDATE: Tonight's game is capped at 7 innings by the SEC regardless of score.

UPDATE 2: Game over. It was a 7 inning game, and we lost 3-2. The weather just didn't do us any favors. Neither did the Game 1 ground crew which sent our guys out to pitch on a slippery mound and waited until we were down 7-0 to put drying compound on the mound. Not an excuse. Just a terrible break. The weather in this one was the opposite of the SEC B-ball Tourney weather when the tornado saved us. And for the record, Perno did the right thing down 13-0 in Game 1 by putting outfielders in to pitch in the 5th. There's a 7th inning mercy rule in the Tourney, and he played it right.

I think we'll be in the Atlanta/GT regional.

The SEC has once again screwed UGA, win or lose tonight. No way we should have started the first game until they were confident they could get at least several innings in. Did they not have an internet connection or a TV in the press box that they could look at before starting. Why not go ahead and trot out Penn Wagers to umpire the games as well? Even if we were to pull this out tonight, Vandy is probably already asleep at the hotel given the early start time.

Win or lose, we're proud of you guys. You have overcome a lot just to get to this point. If they do win it all, it would be very comparable to the Miracle on Tenth St. in '08 given all of the SEC's best efforts otherwise.

This is so weird. I joked earlier in the day to move this to the Thrillerdome. I hate the rain and LSU.

So people blame the weather for us getting drilled 16-0...LSu didnt seem to have any problems playing with the same conditions and they arent as rested as UGA supposedly was....Perno=Failure

LSU did NOT play in the same conditions. When they sent McRee to the mound it was a slippery mess. They waited until we were down 7-0 with 2 outs in the TOP of the first to put new dirt down to dry the mound and infield.

When LSU came on in the Bottom of the 1st FOUR HOURS later the mound was dry, it was already 7-0 and we were pitching guys we rarely use to try and win Game 2.

It was NOT the same conditions.

What are you talking about? Perno equals failure? LSU had no problems? Did you even watch that first half of the first inning?

They may have called this game! Go Dores. After this mess, I really hope Vandy kills them - again.

Rest up Dawgs, we're not done yet.

Great effort by the team. Got some momentum going by the hitting corps that hopefully can be transferred to the upcoming games.

If we end up in tally, we are done. We cant put up enough runs to beat them. If we end up in atlanta we might get to the supers but i doubt it with this team.

The weak pre-season schedule over inflated this team's possibilities.

the big things that need to be addressed are:

1. more pitching.
2. a 2nd baseman who can hit
3. replacing Rich and Mass
4. IMPROVING OUR ABSURDLY AWFUL BASE RUNNING.
5. Convincing Cerione and Joey to come back.

What are you excuses after the game re-started....

I have seen us in the Houston regional (Rice)....Most ppl have Ga. Southern and Jacksonville State going to the Atlanta Regional with Ohio State

Very disappointing handling of the situation from Perno.

It would have been nice to see us come out and try to compete after the rain delay, but it was pretty apparent that he had told the kids to just screw that game and get ready for another one.

LSU had no pitching left and we could have at least tried to get into their bullpen.

I am very disappointed in Perno today. I see why other people around the league consider him a whiny brat.

Weather isn't entirely to blame, but it sure wasn't helping things.

I still can't believe they made them play when it was pouring rain in the first, and kept Alex out there on a mud mound.

Idiots!

If cerione and lewis go pro, they're stupid. If you struggle to hit over 280 in college then the pro game isn't going to be nice to them. And perno handled this situation well except for the call to have hymes square to bunt then pull back and swing...into a double play in the 7th. That was very dumb. Very dumb.

Let LSU enjoy it while they can, they all know another bleaux out is coming their way in football from us. 3 in a row and counting

Anons who hate on Perno: don't know squat about Georgia baseball.

And if others around the league don't like your coach, that's often an indicator of good things for your team. Or, you could just look at the hardware in the Perno era and compare it to what came before.

Perno-haters are just haters. Probably same folks that get their throbbing hate-ons with Stafford and Moreno.
