- -- The Banner-Herald provides more insight into the commitment of Brent Benedict (4 star OT) to UGA.
-- David Hale has an interview with incoming JUCO kicker Brandon Bogotay. The kid's story is going to be a pretty interesting one to follow given his relative newness to football.
-- Blutarsky looks at the OL maturity for 2009 compared to '07 and '06 in the context of Joe vs. Matthew.
-- Kyle King will appear on ESPN Radio out of Gainesville, FLA today at 9:25 am.
-- In baseball news, Trevor Holder signed with the Washington Nationals.
-- And in hoops news Jodie Meeks (UK) is staying in the draft.
-- And I also want to join David Hale and others saying that I will greatly miss DawgBone.net. The site was a tremendous asset to the growth of this blog. Hopefully, he comes back after some sort of sabbatical. Damn Good Dawg.

Is there any news to why Dawgbone has halted? I can say that it is the reason that I found such great blogs on the Dawgs as this one I am commenting on right now.
I think some NBA team is going to get a steal in Jodie Meeks if he lasts until the 2nd round. He will come in and average 15 ppg next year.
I think he will be a better pro than Ron Mercer.
if he's like me....burn out is my guess.
Paul - Hope the burn out is not attributed to random criticism you receive sometimes. Ignore it. You do a great job...keep it up.
With the expansion of news outlets, blogs, etc, with dawg related content, it just took too much time out of his day. During the offseason all of the updates took about an hour a day and an hour and a half during the season. Maybe we can get him back in some abbreviated version once the season starts. Big thanks to PWD and David Hale for providing some links. Dawgbone.net spoiled me too much to have to go back to perusing the internet for dawg news.
Has Benedict been scheduled for shoulder surgery yet?
RE: Burnout
It's not the criticism. It's just the sheer amount of time required.
With my schedule (not an early riser), I have to be online at midnight reading "tomorrow's" Dawgly news/headlines and have an opinion on what's been posted to get much of anything up for the morning web surfers. I just haven't felt like doing that lately.
So I've started posting later in the day. That hurts traffic, and the spoils some of the positive feedback loop involved with the site.
Great content takes time. Good content takes a little less time. Bad content is very easy. As evident by today's post. lol.
BTW -- It's also tough right now because the UGA beat is really struggling without a workhorse like Carter Strickland on it AND without Barnhart posting interesting things. I didn't like many of Carter's snarky as hell smart ass comments about the Dawgs. But he was prolific as a beat writer. The sheer amount of coverage coming from B-M has fallen off a cliff.
That's not meant as an insult to Hale, Marc, Roger, Chip or Tim. Some of it is the # of column inches allocated to UGA inside of increasingly shrinking papers.
But the coverage isn't as abundant as it was when Kendall and Strickland were on the beat...and Barnhart providing interesting commentary.
There's simply less stuff to react to. That...and I'm unquestionably OT trying as hard.

Note: I was talking about quantity. I didn't make a comment about quality.

I hate that DawgBone.net is gone. That screws up my dialy routine of checking the GSB, then DawgBone. I'm a creature of habit in the mornings. I still check it out of habit.
Anon 3:41pm, I'm the same. I still check it even though I know it's almost defunct. Habits die hard.
I can see where some burnout would creep in. I tried my hand at daily blogging in the past and it was a killer, especially posting games of the week and my take on each game. With that said, here's a HUGE thanks for all the work that you, PWD, does on a daily basis.
I wonder if DawgBone operated by committee, like GASB does, whether that would help to reduce the burnout? Thanks to the contributors to this site for providing thoughtful commentary on the world of UGA sports and to all the fellow commenters who run off the trolls from the comment section. This place is among the few refuges of sanity left on the internet.
