Beckham is on a tear through the American League right now. He's currently hitting .314 with 6 HRs, 34 RBI and a whopping 18 doubles in only 54 games.
Gordo is 58th in the American League in Doubles despite playing almost half the games. Over the last 30 days:
- leads the AL in doubles
- 5th in RBI
- 6th in Batting Avg.
- And his avg soars the more runners who are on base (scroll to bottom)

And that holdout really doesn't seem to be working out for Mr. Fields.
Last five appearances: 8 IP, 14H, 12ER, 10BB, 11K, 13.50 ERA.
Overall: 2-2, 6.48 ERA. Something tells me his arm's not right.
I got the pleasure of watching him in Chicago this weekend and it was fun to see how great he already is--he is on pace to be the AL Rookie of the Year. I just wish he hit a little further down in the lineup--he derves more RBIs with all of the doubles he is ripping. He has definitely lifted the White Sox into playoff contention.
Rookie of the Year for sure.
LET THE BIG BECKHAM EAT.
I live in Chicago and my boss is a huge Sox fans. He, however, does not refer to him as Gordon Beckham. Instead, it's Bulldawg Jesus.
0.524 with runners in scoring position with 2 outs??? Can we say "clutch"?
That is great! His White Sox batting coach is Douglas, GA native, Greg Walker. Notice the high, one-handed finish. Total Charlie Lau method which was where Greg learned it and used it in his years as White Sox first baseman in the 80's. GATA Gordo!
I guess this guy will have to eat some of his words.

I think this picture exemplifies him the best.

I prefer this one:

I just hope he's clean shaven enough now for the loser that called him out a few weeks ago.
And remember with those numbers. He had I think 1 hit in his first half dozen games, so take away the initial 1-30 (estimate) and his numbers get Heyward-ish.
He has definitely been a huge shot in the arm for the Sox offense, along with the pick up and revival of Podsednik. The Sox are in the weakest of the AL divisions (if not all of MLB) and should hang around with Detroit through September if Beckham can maintain his production.
